How many teams have been spanked by over ten goals in a Grand Final and ended up winning the minor premiership the next year?

Not sure how the Dogs improve on their season with Bruce out for most of the year and Martin retiring (or being even more cooked). Their backline isn’t stunning either.

JUH year two with Naughton as the #1 banana up forward you’d think would give at least some of the Bruce production.

Backline agree, especially with Wood cooked and Young gone. Schache or Tim O’Brien for that third slot and play Cordy smaller maybe?

Because x does this it means I shouldn't be criticised... who cares. I am picking up this as how well your team does is irrelevant, Like that other guy who replied saying we shouldn't comment because our teams have won flags...

we aren't the players, we didn't win anything, we can focus on whatever the hell we want. If you say someone has less knowledge than you on a football matter as they follow a club that finished below yours, you're an idiot.

If you say someone who supports a club that didn't do as well as yours can't criticise yours, you're an idiot.

Adelaide were tracking well but fell away towards the end of the season. They need to find a replacement for Tex. Thilthorpe will develop but they really struggled for avenues (barring the lag game vs Roos) towards goal once Tex was suspended.

Brisbane will be up there again. Good age profile and list. Use the preseason to properly fix the forward line in the absence of Hipwood.

carlton - could well sneak in to 8th but just as easily finish 12th - 15th. There’s a lot to fix there but I don’t see a climb into finals in the first year after a complete coaching lineup overhaul.

collingwood - if McRae can get the bsooute best out of that list, then 10th IMO.

Essendon - another preseason into the kids will do wonders. It will be a tougher draw next year. Expectations were exceeded this year. If they just miss out next year then supporters shouldn’t consider it a loss. Every chance to play finals.

Fremantle - always yin and yang and can never get a good handle. Imo they are building to something good and one of the main things they need to achieve is rein in the losing margins. Too many big blowouts this season.

Geelong - will be thereabouts.

Hawthorn - for a side with an average looking list they came home with a wet sail with some v strong performances. Have them outside the 8 but it will be interesting to see how things pan out in the first official year under Mitchell.

Dees - top 4. The lineup is unchanged but for the addition of Dunstan which is a bonus.

Kangas - I like what they are doing under Noble. First 8 or so games were a shamozzle but they finally adapted to the new game plan and structure. Won’t make the finals but building.

Port - will be thereabouts.

Tigers - added Tarrant. Lost CCJ and Chol. Went further into the poo when Dusty was ruled out. Bottom half next year as some of their stalwarts reach the end of the road.

Saints - they can’t afford to have so many big losses. Marshall and Ryder in the middle are very important, in particular the former. They should make the 8 and hopefully get some adequate support around Steele.

Sydney - Like the list. Bud Wah’s last season perhaps. Bombing out in the elimination final should motivate the team and I def have them in the 8.

west coast - time for a rebuild (not Carlton style of course). Bottom half.

Dogs - will be up there again. Bruce was a huge loss so they’ll need to get Naughton and JUH working together. Midfield remains elite. Backline and ruck remain a worry but if they can dominate out of the centre that’ll take pressure off the backline.

GWS -need to get a good run with injuries. Been unlucky. Top 8 but Greene out for the first chunk of games ain’t gonna help.

Gc - bottom half. Focus on development and get the team ready for Clarkson in 2023.

15th is probably upper end of expectations for Pies next year. Would be ok with that. Our list will need a number of seasons before we are ready to improve.

I'd be very surprised if we finish 4th.
If we can finally keep a healthy team for most of the year, I'd be hoping for 7th-10th.
Collingwood 3rd would also be a bit of a miracle. You guys have got a bit of work ahead of you. McRae should be good, but I think bottom 6 still.
