So we're down to a leadership group of three. Last year was Hepp (C), Merrett, Hurley, McGrath (all VC), so the only real change here is that Hurley must be focusing on getting his body right rather than having a leadership role, and a sort-of demotion for McGrath?

I assume yodellinhank will be very happy, as one of the most vocally against the group of 7 we had a few years ago.



Also the inverse of our VFLW LG, which has two captains and one vice captain

Because they're pointless and leaders will lead regardless. This one is okay, I guess though.

Other than in the sense of if they have to do some sort of inquest into the behaviour of a wayward degoey type, in which case only the elected/appointed leaders would be present, and the players obviously treat it as an honour to aim for.

But in terms of actual leadership on the field, if the ones actually leading aren’t the ones in the appointed group then something is wrong…

Bit strange there's no forward in there tbh. AFL teams work so much in the line groups these days that it's natural to have a leader in each one. I mean, there will be a natural leader in the forward group, a bit strange to not have him included in the group itself.

Probably a sign we're really lacking in experience and leadership in that area. Even more so with Hooker gone.
