Didn't get to see the game, but it'll be interesting what they do with McFadyen at years end. Since moving back, he's increased in confidence in each game. I'm assuming he played in defence again, although last week they threw him into the middle at times. I wonder if they'll look to get him to the rookie list and see if the trajectory continues.

He was hands down our best defender in an undersized backline.

Genuinely starting to look like he could play AFL imo. 27 touches playing the Gardiner role.

Great to hear. Look forward to watching the replay. Would be great getting another academy boy in the side!

He has looked good of late in the reserves, although I do wonder if he would have the agility or speed to play to a decent level in the seniors.

If he's a third tall defender I think he'd be alright. Good intercept mark and good one on one. Would be no less agile than Gardiner and is definitely faster.

Thought McFadyen and Lester were our best. Didn’t mind Fullerton either in conditions that didn’t suit him.

Not sure around the rules on this but is there any chance we can rookie list Buzza next year? He can cover both ends of the ground as well as ruck. With Dan leaving and who knows about Adams wouldn’t mind having him on the list as an option for depth if required.

If Lyons comes in for Dev for Friday night I may blow a foofa valve.
I feel as though Lyons call to play today was in desperation knowing that his year is likely done.
If he was being rested due to a lingering 2 month injury then he should have rested in the hope that it may have given him some freedom.
The fact that he chose to play means he knows it won’t be easy to get back in, especially after the game on Thursday night.

They did dodge a bullet. Blues stuffed up so many chances. Lucky to hold on, good composure late to get the sealer.
We didn't take all our chances in the third term either. What goes around comes around.

He did have a good game but his stats were blown out from doing the kick ins. Blues missed many in the last.

Wonder if they'll play the Casey v Lions game as a curtain raiser for the semi-final at the G. Any precedence of doing that with VFL games?

If our 1s play Friday night then the emergencies could play against Dees for the 2s in the VFL on Sat or Sun. The same goes for Casey of course.

Imagine if Darcy Gardiner could defend well AND take the kick outs?
I’d be very nervous able McFayden’s ability to keep up with guys athletically in the AFL. Also I don’t think he’d be getting any kick outs in the same backline as Kiddy and Rich.

Think he's improved a lot in that area.

He wouldn't be our primary kickout guy, but how often do you see a key defender get the ball after the behind and wait for Rich or Kiddy to take the kick. If you had three defenders who are good at kicking out it can only be a good thing and would speed up our exit from the back 50.

Not saying he'll stay on the list or is the answer, but it's a good attribute to have.
