Bulldogs mids IMO are overrated. They pad their stats a lot with their give and get style but it doesn't actually accomplish much. Five stationary blokes sharing handballs in a circle is not the same as run and carry fellas.

Watch Bailey Smith play closely. Runs up and down the inside of the field, takes marks and kicks. Does not get his hands dirty.
How many goals per game=near zero.
Many Bulldog mids have great reputations. Just have no influence on the game.

It just shows how difficult it is to attract good players to Sydney.

I don't disagree about your main point of the difficulty trading players in. Without the extras and cost of living advantages plus uprooting Swans have to pay a premium. GWS haven't traded a lot either, mainly through the draft.
That said, the three you mention are top notch, even if slightly unexpectedly for 2 of them!

This game is a good demonstration of how close the comp really is. Apart from North, West Coast and maybe Essendon it feels like most other teams can beat each other on their day.
