The Browns wanted us to PAY 13 to 14m, Joe Pearson and Jonathan Alexander have both said this.

Laughable.

They bought a car didn't like it, bought a new one and expect to recoup most of their original investment for their poor decision.

See this crap on Facebook Marketplace every day.

Fancy thinking you hold leverage to where a team would pay 3/4s of his 18m contract.

Must be on the glass bbq.

Just trade a 3rd for Jimmy once he can throw again and renegotiate a contract extension that benefits both the Panthers and Jimmy.

Could convert most of Jimmy's 2022 salary into a signing bonus.

I dont think we'll be trading for either unless its for a 5th or 6th round pick. (we dont have a third next year due to Corral trade)

Would prefer us to sit on our hands like the Seahawks are doing and wait for one of them to get released if we are going down that path.

If it was just you guys waiting I think he would be released by now.....but the 49ers are not going to let Jimmy walk to the Seahawks.

49ers must have some sort of plan, they haven't signed any of their draft picks yet, have no cap space (cutting Jimmy now frees up $18M and the rest when he signs somewhere else). Ford will come off and probably Mack (he may have to repay some of his signing bonus if the 49ers are bullish).

5th round picks are worth more to the 49ers that 1st rounders. Give us two and we can get it done.

Ive got us going 5-12 with a new coaching staff in the building in 2023. We've used more than enough draft capital to trade for QBs this offseason.

The Corral trade would likely be a waste if we go 5-12 or worse given the new coaching staff would want their own QB with a top 5 pick id imagine.

Corral needs to start 6 or more games this year so we can get a good look at him and see what we have heading into next offseason, bringing in Baker or Jimmy just gets in the way of that. (yes, im aware Jimmy will probably get injured at some point, which makes trading for him even worse)

You would need to negotiate a new Contract for Garoppolo to do that - he's in the last year of his current deal.

The 49ers can play the long game with Jimmy G because the compensation for him AFTER this year (f he's signed by another team during free agency) is likely to be a 2024 3rd round comp pick due to the new Contract he would sign with that team.

It comes down to how much the 49ers value a draft pick in 2023 compared to 2024 - if they're offered a 2023 3rd round pick they would jump, but anything lower becomes a bigger question.

Depends if they bring in any FA's of their own.

The Falcons are moving second-year CB Avery Williams to running back this offseason.

A fifth-round pick last year, Williams was an explosive special teams player at Boise State, returning six punts and three kickoffs for touchdowns. At 187 pounds, he's a bit undersized for a traditional running back but could add weight to accommodate the switch. Last year, Williams blazed a 4.41 40-yard dash at Boise State's pro day but will face stiff backfield competition from rookie Tyler Allgeier and veteran running backs Damien Williams and Cordarrelle Patterson. We doubt Williams makes any impact at the position.

Falcons signed RB Jeremy McNichols

McNichols spent 2021 with the Titans, operating as a pass-catching change of pace to Derrick Henry. Once Henry was injured, the Titans did not change McNichols' role, giving early-down work to D'Onta Foreman and Adrian Peterson instead. McNichols then missed several weeks with a concussion and returned to a minimal role. He was released ahead of Week 18 and has remained unsigned since. McNichols will offer the Falcons some training camp insurance in case one of their pass-catching backs suffers an injury.

Falcons LB Deion Jones (shoulder) will miss the rest of the offseason.

The Athletic's Jeff Schultz previously reported that Jones was very likely to be cut with a post-June 1 designation. Now unable to participate in offseason activities, Jones looks extremely likely to be released. Jones is coming off a rough season, and his veteran leadership has been questioned. The former second-round pick may need to wait until his shoulder is healthy before finding a 2022 home.

In an announcement Wednesday, a player designated for return from injured reserve must miss a minimum of four games.

Additional changes to the I.R. rule allow a team to designate for return up to eight players over the course of the season, and the same player can be activated two separate times, though that would count twice towards the team's total of eight. Last season, a designated-for-return I.R. player only had to miss a minimum of three contests. On top of the changes for injured reserve, practice squad rosters were voted to stay at 16, and up to six veterans are still eligible to join each practice squad.

The Athletic's Katherine Terrell reports Jameis Winston (knee) "did almost everything" at Thursday's OTAs.

This is a positive sign for Winston, who is returning from a torn ACL suffered in late October. The Saints aren't expected to push Winston to get on the field, but the fact that he participated in most of Thursday's practice is encouraging. Winston threw for 1,170 yards, 14 touchdowns and three interceptions in seven games for the Saints last season and was the QB15 in fantasy points per game (18.7). A healthy Winston would be good for both the Saints and fantasy managers -- especially with added weapons in Jarvis Landry and Chris Olave.

Meanwhile, the worlds longest rehab from a single injury continues...

Saints coach Dennis Allen says Michael Thomas is "doing well in his rehab" but is not ready to return to the field.

Thomas missed all of the 2021 season and a significant portion of 2020 due to an ankle injury. When asked about the likelihood that Thomas would be ready for training camp, Allen responded "that's certainly our plan." Thomas' outlook for the 2022 season is a difficult one to predict given his recent injury struggles and the length of time it has taken him to return to the field. Even if healthy, he will see some of his workload eaten into by rookie wide receiver Chris Olave, and veteran free agent signing Jarvis Landry.

Cardinals CB Jeff Gladney was killed in a car accident Monday morning.

Gladney was selected in the first round by the Vikings in 2020. Waived after his rookie season following domestic violence charges, Gladney was found not guilty. After missing all of 2021, Gladney was ready to resume his career with the Cardinals before losing his life in an early morning car crash. Our thoughts are with his loved ones.

NewOrleans.football's Nick Underhill reports Jameis Winston moved "with a visible limp" during last week's OTAs.

Winston is six months removed from surgery on the torn ACL he suffered in Week 7 of the 2021 season. "He practiced with a brace on his left knee and took part in every facet of practice, though he sat out the last period of 11-on-11 drills," Underhill reported. "The quarterback moved with a visible limp. He could push the ball downfield during individual drills but did not have the same ability in live action. Most of his passes during the team portion of practice stayed close to home." Underhill said Winston clearly "has some work to do in his recovery" from knee surgery. Head coach Dennis Allen has said Winston will be ready for training camp and will be the team's starting quarterback barring a setback. His progress will be well worth monitoring this summer.
