Hawthorn - Bailey Humphrey - 186cms 86kgs - FWD/MID

Someone who would excite Hawks fans and also Sam Mitchell.
A powerful, uncompromising fwd/mid in the mold of Jordan Degoey and [PLAYERCARD]Toby Greene[/PLAYERCARD], Bailey fits the Hawks future plans perfectly.
Tough inside the contest and in 1 v 1’s and quick outside on the burst from stoppages Bailey also tackles hard and to hurt.
He is a leader and has a high footy IQ with the use of his voice instructing teammates loud and clear.
Needs to build his tank a little and work on his kick a bit but his positives far outweigh any worries over those two areas and it’s nothing a few preseasons wouldn’t fix easy enough.
Picking up a powerful, bash and crash leader in the middle who can also go fwd and rack up multiple shots on goal, and someone who generally wins 99% of his one on ones is perfect at this spot for Sam Mitchell and his young Hawks team in need of an attacking big mid/Fwd with hurt factor.

Others in consideration……Rueben Ginbey, Cam MacKenzie, Jhye Clark.
Reason for Humphrey, adds something different to the hawks midfield group that none of those aforementioned players do and would fit perfectly alongside Ward, McDonald, Newcomb, Nash and Worpel and also help fwd the likes of Butler, Moore and Brockman.

next up

With pick No8 Geelong Cats pick

Reuben Ginbey

He is a 188cm & 81kg Midfielder from East Perth

Ginbey started the season in Western Australia dominating as a third tall defender, where his intercept play took the eye of scouts. But he moved into the midfield for WA's under-18 state team and showed his traits in there through the championships, where he used his bigger frame and running capacity to make a difference. He went head-to-head with Will Ashcroft at times against Vic Metro and played well that day with 18 disposals, and he also had 23 touches against Vic Country to be named WA's most valuable player.

[PLAYERCARD]Chris Scott[/PLAYERCARD] quoted as saying "We are excited to have Reuben join us here at the Cattery and look forward to him spending a couple of years here and then having one of the WA teams selling the farm to get him back with 3 first round picks":p

Pick 9(West Coast)-
Jedd Busslinger
Key Defender
Age: 11/03/04
Weight: 82kg
Height: 196cm
Club: East Perth/Coolbinia
WAFL U18s
132 ranking points, 23.8 disposals, 11.3 intercepts, 5.5 intercept marks (4 games) 2022 National Champs 97 ranking points, 22 disposals, 5.5 intercepts, 3 intercept marks (2 games) WAFL 37 ranking points, 6.3 disposals, 3 intercept possessions, 1 interept mark (3 games)
Just like Denver Grainger-Barras two years ago, the best young intercept defender in the draft is from Western Australia, with Busslinger proving impenetrable at WAFL Colts level for East Perth. He was equally as impressive for WA at the national carnival, before going in for season-ending shoulder surgery, following a 26-disposals, six-intercept performance against the Allies. Remarkably, he was named at centre-half back in the U18 All-Australian team despite playing just two matches. Busslinger also held his own in three league matches for the Royals against bigger bodied key forwards. Busslinger reads the play well, backs himself in the air and doesn’t look like a typical 196cm big man when he’s kicking, such is his control by foot. Very much in the top-10 mix.

Wrenny your up

Pick 11 Carlton
Cameron Mckenzie
Sandringham Dragons
187 cm 80 kg
Midfielder
Averaged 24 disposals playing NAB league and 26 disposals playing for Metro. Classy midfielder and best available here.
Busslinger was a chance if he was available.

Pick 12 Bulldogs - Lewis Hayes 199cm 82kg KPD

Dogs need KPD reinforcement after losing Cordy and Hayes is an ideal replacement. Has the height to match the modern 200cm KPF with decent speed over 20m at 2.99 seconds. Should get a couple of seasons to develop his game and grow into his body

Pick 13.
West Coast

Elijah Hewett

Midfielder, WA

Age: 27-05-04
Weight: 84kg
Height: 185cm
Club: Swan Districts/Caversham
2022 National Champs 99 ranking points, 19.5 disposals, 10.5 contested possessions, 4.5 tackles (4 games) 2022 WAFL 61 ranking points, 13.8 disposals, 5.6 contested possessions, 3.0 score involvements (9 games) 2022 WAFL Reserves 163 ranking points, 31 disposals, 15 contested possessions, 9 score involvements, 6 tackles (1 game)
Exploded in the national championships opener against Vic Metro, finishing with 29 disposals, 11 inside 50s, two goals and 150 ranking points to confirm his position as a top-10 chance in November’s draft. All of Hewett’s top-end traits were on show that day – speed, explosiveness, ball-winning ability and that serious side step. The powerful teenager is strong on the inside, but also damaging out in space, and has more than held his own in nine senior games for Swan Districts - with his form getting better as the year went on - following an impressive bottom-age season at Colts level. His one game in the reserves for Swan Districts was dominant, finishing with 163 ranking points, 31 disposals, 15 contested possessions, 9 score involvements and 6 tackles. His defensive running may be the only concern.

Pick 15 Melbourne

Isaac Keeler 198cm 88kg Ruck/Forward

Even though they got Grundy to partner Gawn the Dees are going to take a kid they hoped Jackson would become as a ruck who can play forward.

Can't believe Cats didn't take Jhye Clark. All the talk is they were all over the [PLAYERCARD]Jack Bowes[/PLAYERCARD] trade so they could get Clark with the bogus No7 pick included (which it seems will never be allowed to happen again, after the AFL stated this was their preferred mode of clubs getting themselves out of cap trouble, then walking that back after the Geelong Bowes deal).

Anyway, that's the fun of the draft, you never really know what you're going to get in a box of chocolates - apologies to Forrest, Forrest Gump that is.

Wasnt he meant to be the Joel Duckwood replacement ?

Cant believe Ed Allan still available - " The Bolter"

Lord of the Wings

Looks like Lord of the Wings has not been online since 5.40pm yesterday
I would suggest we move on and allocate Sydney the highest ranked player on Cal Twomeys October rankings which is Ollie Hollands which he ranked at #11
Was online at 11.41 this morning. As per rules set out they get 24 hours to pick, so if they haven't picked by 11.30 tomorrow then I'll allocate highest pick from the Big Footy Phantom, which would be Darcy Jones.
