Pick 36
Port Adelaide

Anthony Munkara
State:
Northern Territory/South Australia
State League Club: Northern Territory/West Adelaide
Community Club: Darwin
Date of Birth: 03/10/04
Height: 186cm
Weight: 77kg
Position: Forward

This could be the best pick in the draft or a complete waste of pick. He has shown the ability to do some really special stuff and has the potential to be a real impactful and exciting player, we believe with the mentoring of [PLAYERCARD]Shaun Burgoyne[/PLAYERCARD] and the leadership and habits of [PLAYERCARD]travis boak[/PLAYERCARD] we can get him to reach his potential. [PLAYERCARD]Robbie gray[/PLAYERCARD] recently retired and Rozee and Butters will continue to get an expanded midfield role leaving an opening for a versatile forward, also considering how much footy Fantasia and Junior Rioli miss there is a need for a versatile forward. Him also having a link to South Australia was another thing that worked in his favour.

We considered drafting for needs in a KPD and Ruck but none were real standouts and we couldn't ignore Munkaras upside.
Also in the Mix: Jakob Ryan, Adam D'Aloia, Ethan Philips, Tom Mccallum, Phoenix Foster

Pick 37 Melbourne bid on Harry Rowston

Rioli2Rioli are you matching?
You are so Cruel !! Could have waited until i took my next pick atleast and he wont go before 45 in the real draft
I wanted to bid on the other Davey kid :p

GWS have matched Melbourne's bid on our gun academy kid Harry Rowston

Melbourne take Jed Hagan with pick 38 a consistent small utility who has been playing WAFL seniors this year after dominating at Colts level at the start of the year. A well rounded accomplished player who will leave no stone unturned to get the most out of his career.

With pick 39 the Dogs select Sam Gilbey 187cm 73kg Defender. Gilbey has had a horror year injury wise with glandular fever and then a broken leg hampering his draft year, but his clean ball use and attacking nature off half back will be a welcome addition to the Dogs side.

YeOldTiger is up

With Pick 40 North select:

Adam D'Aloia

Very pleased to get this diesel engine as a future replacement for club stalwart [PLAYERCARD]Ben Cunnington[/PLAYERCARD].

Smythe Hawks up next...

Hawthorn - Jakob Ryan - 189cm 78kg - Def

The Hawks are super stoked to grab Jakey here. S.A’s number 1 Def who is elite in the areas of marking, intercepting, disposals, kicking efficiency and scoring as a defender. He tackles, stays in the chain of play linking the ball to the fwds, is very potent with ball by hand or foot and as I said scores well himself. This kid is a live wire across halfback and a playmaker the Hawks will be pumped to add to their squad. Absolutely should not be still available here but things like this happen in drafts.

Up next, Lord of the Wings with Sydney

Yawn.

Why bother to be involved if you don't actually bother. Same flog as last time.

With Pick 43 North select:

Kid is a good size for a second mobile tall forward and has some XFactor which I like in a hybrid forward. I like the way he has a natural sidestep and some natural goal sense. A bit of a project player but with a pick in the 40s he's a no risk no reward type.

Also likely to be an instant cult figure with a name like Ziggy. I just can't go past him ! Nickname "Holy Toledo" will ring through the stands when he kicks one of his miracle goals !

Tiger_Of_Old you're up again

Freo-

Ethan Phillips

Height: 196cm
Weight: 90kg
D.O.B: 17-07-1999

There seem to be few more readymade key defensive options around the country than Ethan Phillips, the winner of this year's Fothergill-Round-Mitchell Medal. The Port Melbourne defender was in contention to be drafted out of the junior pathway, but has emerged again as a prospect at 23-years-old. The Borough backman was resolute across 15 VFL outings this season, putting up ridiculous intercept numbers as the standout young player in the competition.
Phillips' game revolves around intercepting, a crucial part of modern day defending. He averaged a whopping 11.5 intercept possessions and 5.1 intercept marks for the Borough, also getting his fist in for 3.7 spoils per game. Needless to say, he proved difficult to get past with such astute reading of the play and commitment to the aerial contest. Plying his trade against AFL-listed forwards in the semi-national state league, his efforts were well under the eye of recruiters.
The mature-ager will look to become yet another Fothergill-Round-Mitchell medallist to enter the top flight directly after taking out said honour, and his skillset offers arguably much of what is required to be a tall defender in the AFL. Having built his frame and become established at a high level, Phillips is now more ready than ever to make the step-up.

Ctl your up.

Pick 45
Gold Coast

Tom McCallum

Height: 192cm
Weight 78kg
Position: Defender

We need some defenders given all the injuries to the half back flankers and also lack an intercept defender and hope that this pick can solve some of the needs. Was considering drafting [PLAYERCARD]sydney stack[/PLAYERCARD] to play HBF and follow in the footsteps of Miles, [PLAYERCARD]Corey Ellis[/PLAYERCARD], [PLAYERCARD]Brandon Ellis[/PLAYERCARD], Markov, Chol and probably some others that i've missed, but i'm not sure if he entered the draft

“An all-round athlete who can play above his height at either end of the ground, blending speed, endurance and aerial ability.”

As far as raw excitement goes, there a few draft prospects who catch the eye like Tom McCallum. The Tasmanian is one of the top talents out of the Apple Isle this year, having proven himself across 13 NAB League games and a full National Championships campaign with the Allies.

The athletic 192cm top-ager came into the Devils’ side last year as a forward, turning out six times for four goals and impressing with his aerial exploits. Given his side’s tall attacking options, he shifted to defence in 2022 and continued to shine with more of the same marking feats, as well as damaging rebound running.

Also in consideration: Callum Verral, Bailey Macdonald

Thats the end of Gold Coasts draft

Pick #46 -
St.Kilda select:

Tom Scully
Key Forward
Height: 202cm
Weight: 89kg
D.O.B: 02-11-2004

SNAPSHOT: “An aerially apt key forward whose early-season goalkicking feats planted him firmly on the AFL Draft radar.”

You’d be hard pressed to find a richer run of form than what [PLAYERCARD]Tom Scully[/PLAYERCARD] produced through Rounds 1-7 of the 2022 SANFL Under 18 season. The raw and rangy tall forward booted a remarkable 37 goals in said period en route to 50 overall, including three bags of seven.

His goalkicking prowess saw him earn a call-up to the AFL Academy, before being selected in South Australia’s Under 18 squad – albeit for a single National Championships game – and rounding out his campaign at Reserves level where West Adelaide reached the preliminary finals.

It’s fair to say Scully has come a long way in a short space of time, developing quickly over the last two seasons having converted from soccer, and spending more time in attack this year after cutting his teeth as a ruck. He looms as one of the more intriguing tall prospects in the pool.

Saints done now

Smythe it's you

Saints Trade Wrap

Pick #10 - Jyhe Clark

Was tossing up between Clark and McKenzie. Went with a pure inside mid to help out their on ball brigade. Highest left on my board.

Pick #31 - Charlie Clarke
Small forward is a need for the Saints. Took the risk and snapped him up hoping Gruzewski was there in a few picks. Bit of X factor and speed to add to that forward line.

Pick #35 - James Van Es
KPD was another need. Next best on my board, as mentioned would of prefered Gruzewski but not upset with Van Es.

Pick #46 - [PLAYERCARD]Tom Scully[/PLAYERCARD]
KPF to add to the list. Would of loved Lemmey but can't have it all.

Hawthorn - Jaiden Magor - 185cm 75kg - Mid/Fwd

I was hoping Ethan Phillips lasted till here, then I thought ok, well I will go [PLAYERCARD]Tom Scully[/PLAYERCARD]…. but alas, he is gone too. Anyway, Hawthorn need some scoring power and contested bulls, so I went with Jaiden as he is a mid fwd who hits the scoreboard and gets clearances.
Injury curtailed some of his year but his X factor and upside is huge. Can win contested ball easily and his 1v 1’s, hits the scoreboard very well as his fwd work is excellent. Will be a good addition to the future midfield rotations at Hawthorn as scoring mids are what they need now.

up next LOZWILDA with Carlton
