Dunstan potentially heading to the Dees. Don't think he's fantasy relevant, probs just depth.
Remember the theory that the drafted kids hadn't played much footy and wouldn't get early games due to a lack of match fitness, so there'd be no rooks? A theory I subscribed to and went full-on MPM, and which turned out to be wrong?
Is there more chance of it happening in 2022? It's now two years of bugger all footy that the Victorian kids have endured.
How can they possibly step up to AFL level from that base?
Someone like a JHF will be fine as he's played a season of SANFL, but he'll be the exception rather than the rule.
Just wondering what others' thoughts about this are
Dawson worth a look as a defender. Will probably be around $550k, but if the Crows play him on the wing, I reckon he's a lock for a 100+ avg with a few monster scores.Doubt anyone that's being traded this year is relevant. Very dry.
There's always enough rookies.

Dawson should be a fine pick, but he was already 5th for total points and 7th for average in the backline, don't think there is massive upside.
103 in wins.
96.8 in loses.
Not a bad W/L difference.

George Hewett is worth a look depending on how high up he ends up on the Blues' midfield totem pole.
Should cost a touch under $400k, capable of big scores when he's played in the midfield. Could easily see him becoming a sideways trade to a premium.
Cerra, Walsh, Hewitt and Cripps (lol) is a good midfield. Surely helps Walsh the most as it takes some focus away from him?If Hewett is an SC mid , it’s a hard no for me.
However, he is an SC defender, he is absolutely worth considering. He’ll be Carltons 3rd best mid.
He actually spent most of this year down back, swapping his role with Mills is one of the big reasons we were a much better team this year.
The only reason he played mid late in the year was that Mills and JPK were both injured.
Watch this space if he has the toughest preseason in the years and trains the house down.
Forgot about CerraCerra, Walsh, Hewitt and Cripps (lol) is a good midfield. Surely helps Walsh the most as it takes some focus away from him?
Hewitt's not relevant as MID only, maybe if he is DEF eligible.
Cerra $480k
Cripps $450k (surely he bounces back?)
Hewitt $394k
One of those three must go 100+? Could be an option if you need a cheaper mid, but all have risk.

Fair enough. Hewett does become much more relevant if he gets mid/def status.Cerra, Walsh, Hewitt and Cripps (lol) is a good midfield. Surely helps Walsh the most as it takes some focus away from him?

Having had Cerra this year I'm very keen on not starting a "M8" player who tops out around 100. Even if you make cash off them they are so hard to do that sideways trade to a fallen premo as your always have more important trades to make.Fair enough. Hewett does become much more relevant if he gets mid/def status.
My line of thinking with him as a mid is that he averaged around 100 in the games Mills missed and he played as a full-time mid, so I could see him working his way up to ~$550k off the back of a steady climb and perhaps 1 or 2 big scores, and then becoming an easy upgrade to a fallen premo, but it's certainly far less risky if he gets DPP status.
Granted, there's probably going to be alternative options that are safer bets to generate $150k+
They'd be having a laugh if Dawson didn't get it IMO. He played at half back for ~70% this year. But it can be a bit of a chool raffle, so who knows?Having had Cerra this year I'm very keen on not starting a "M8" player who tops out around 100. I like Hewitt as a defender at that price, fingers crossed. He could be very useful as premo defenders might be an issue next season. Only 7 averaged 100+ this year and two defintely won't be DEF next season (Mills, Laird) and two more might not (Crisp, Dawson).
To be honest, I’d consider Laird as a mid only option.Having had Cerra this year I'm very keen on not starting a "M8" player who tops out around 100. Even if you make cash off them they are so hard to do that sideways trade to a fallen premo as your always have more important trades to make.

On a positive note we will gain 2x 105+ Defs in Ziebell & Hall + Heppell, Dale, Hind & Impey who averaged 99-90 + Sicily who was averaging 100+ just before his injury last year.
Yeah Hall is the bright spot I forgot about him. Ziebell not likely to be worth his start price imo, was tailing off second half of the year.On a positive note we will gain 2x 105+ Defs in Ziebell & Hall + Heppell, Dale, Hind & Impey who averaged 99-90 + Sicily who was averaging 100+ just before his injury last year.

Sicily will depend on his price/how he's used. Be nice having a campaigner in my team again though.
Do you see any of those others going 100+?
I read recently that Ziebell played most of the second half of the season injured. Probably still over-priced though.
Heppell averaged just under 100 all while coming off an interrupted pre-season (missed rd 2-3) as well as 2 breaking both thumbs a month apart later in the year, yet he never dipped below 80 SC points. Super consistent stats wise with 21+ possies in every game. Can see him going 100-105 in 2022 with an uninterrupted pre-season if he plays the same HB role again.
Lloyd, Hall, ShortHall was already a lock for me next year.
Even easier pick now that Tigers fans will be deathriding Norf for their 2nd rounder.
Concede all the points, take all the kick ins!

Lloyd, Hall, Short

Yeah Whitfield might have to be selected priced @ 93. Should go 100+ easy, might be the top defender. He's a constant injury worry though.Early days, but Lloyd, Hall, Rids and Whit for me.
