Thomas has Stringer 2021 potential imo.

He will almost certainly be mid/fwd - could average as high as 110 imo.

Not sure what the fuss is with Thomas only 3 tons all year I would rather get DeGoey who will be about the same price next year.

Check his CBA stats. Started getting them in round 10. Since then he's averaged 93.

If he's going to be in their main 4 midfielders and gets the ~15 CBA's a game, he's a lock.

The issue is there was a dip in CBA's around the time when Cunners returned (around rounds 14/15/16), CBA's dropped to ~10.

What happens next year with LDU, Cunners, Simpkin, Anderson, Thomas, Powell and Phillips?

De Goey is a lock. Finally did a preseason, finally got hit body right, finally got the midfield time and proved what he can do consistently.

Agree with De Goey. A flawless preseason might make him hard to resist. I'm probably going with Thomas as well though, based on breakout potential. Had a number of scintillating first halves only to fade out of the game in the second. Another preseason should see him able to maintain it. Would love to see a breakdown of Thomas' first halves versus second halves. Would make for interesting reading I reckon.

I’d be waiting to see what role their new coach gives him, if he’s a full time mid though with forward eligibility he’ll be hard to go past.

I’d still be tempted to go with Thomas just because I like watching him play and I think de Goey is a knob so cheering for him would be hard.

Pruess and Milera are garbage trucks and no one should be considering them anyways.
But you're right, they do have history of not awarding extra discounts.

Naismith's price went UP the other year after back to back 0 game seasons.

Just got given the same discount as the year before, based on the same average, but a higher MN saw him start at $100 more than the season prior.
Yeah, exactly.
On Milera, if mega-cheap, I guess maaaybee, but very, very frail to date.
Witts’ price could be interesting, might come in around 330k (assuming 30% discount) if folks aren’t keen on locking in two big dogs from the word go and want a sighter on G/G/Darcy, but it's locking in a fairly high probability of needing to use a trade down the line. Not super-keen on Preuss tbh.

Witts probably misses the start of the season thought doesn't he?

I'm already planning on going Grundy Marshall 102ker with English FWD.
Witts in for 330k down the track would be handy.

Witt's won't be back until mid-season. ACL.

Oscar McInerney R2 for me

Tarryn Thomas is just screaming being next year's Zac Bailey. Enjoy those 80 point starts every single week.

De Goey will be next year's De Goey.

This is what I'm thinking for my starting premos next year:

Def - Ridley Crisp Lloyd
Mid - Macrae Steele Touk Titch Neale
Ruc - Darcy Marshall
Fwd - Dunkley De Goey

other considerations:

def - stewart, hall, short
mid - oliver, bont, walsh
ruc - grundy
fwd - danger, english and many more

There are 2 genuine Gulls Lloyd and now Hall they should really be first picked. I think Crisp will be Def/Mid and a lock as well. Throw a blanket over the rest

Would like to see Ridley has around him next year first. If he's playing lockdown, forget it.

I guess it depends on whether he gets to seagull around down back or not. North might change tactics, or put a younger player in the role. If he's playing the same way in the PS he's in though.

With Sydney's improvement I'm not sure the mighty Gull is a must have any more. Although his consistency makes him harder to upgrade too during the season.

Round 1 Starting team (Maybe)

Def: Lloyd,Stewart,Crisp,Hall,Milera,Rookie
Mid: Steele,Oliver,Macrae,Touk,Neale,Coniglio,Rookie
Ruc: Darcy,McInerney
Fwd: Marshall,DeGoey,Rioli,Rookie,Rookie,Rookie

For anyone that actually wants to calculate, this years multiplier was about $5372 per point.

Eg. Jack Macrae averaged 121 last year. Started at $650 100. $650 100 divided by 121 =$5372.73 per point. The multiplier normally changes fractionally each year, but based on starting prices this year, it might be of assistance. Using the same formula, the multiplier at the start of last year was about $5429.

I forgot about Lachie originally and he will be about $120k cheaper and M Crouch might take a few of Lairds points
I love Laird, but I don't think he averages enough as a mid-only to pick ahead of others.

Neale burned me this year, will need to see him flying in PS before I pick him.

And training the house down.

I started with Lachie last year was a stroke on Genius. This year he was overpriced and next year will be underpriced. He has just had a bad run this year still a SP and will be priced at 97 he is a 110+ player easily

Agreed.

I started him to last year (yay us) and thought he was majorly KOTD + crazy scaling. He's had a lot of injuries this year (ankle, calf, and shoulder). Will need to show he's passed them for me. Definitely on the watchlist though for M5. Reckon his price is going to be so low you can afford to not start him and get him with your first upgrade if he shows he's past the injuries

I reckon it will be between him and Crouch as who has the better price/preseason.

I’m thinking Macrae, Steele, Titch, MCrouch/Neale and potentially Rowell

If they’re both flying I might even consider both

As bad as his year has been he has still punched out a couple of 150+ scores. I would take him in a heartbeat over Crouch.
Coniglio will be interesting he will be around $380k and I would take him over Rowell if he is fit and even if he is played forward is still a 90+ player good to hold until the bye rounds.

I'm not that keen on Matt Crouch either, would need to be priced under $500k to get me interested, which is unlikely. The rule changes have spend things up a bit and favoured super fit mid's that get to contest after contest (Miller, Walsh, Parish). Can Matt Crouch run like they do?

Neale 2 x 150+ vs North and Essendon in a big win. Averaging 87 over the other 12 games. That North score was hugely KOTD too (I had just traded him in that week so was watching closely). He's a maybe until PS for me.

Cog's ( and JBerry) is 100% dependent on their start price. I think GWS will have 4 or 5 mid's ahead of him so he'll be forward a lot, not sure he's go better than 90 best case scenario.
