Yeah Whitfield might have to be selected priced @ 93. Should go 100+ easy, might be the top defender. He's a constant injury worry though.

I like Ridley, but not sure about his role. Will have a beady eye on him in PS. Heppell really put the slows on him this year.

Reckon we'll need at least 4 starting premo's in defensive again? I suspect we will.

I'd love Whit as a pod, worth the risk imo.

Ridley the 4th preference for me, bit undervalued due to the concussion, much like Stewart was last year.

Dunno if we will need to go as loaded in the backline, but the fwds look like there should be a few decent bargain buys, so that's the spot to skimp out.

Probably only go 4 deep in the mids again.
3 ubers and Neale.

Injury guys can shove it.

I'm taking Crisp over Whitfield for this reason. I used up enough trades thanks to injuries in 2021. Eff going down that road again

For sc purposes, Dawson to the crows would be amazing. Taking kickins then working upto the wing and clunking marks. According to Laird he could play inside too, so getting easily disposals/tackles inside. yess pleassseee 😍

Pat Lipinski at the pies.

Should be a full time mid there.

Should get fwd/mid dpp and be around $330k ish?

Feel like he might be that tease for 2022, promise of mid time, breakout potential but ends up a bust.

Not worth it.

Outside mid, previously a fringe player and no real indication of the kind of role he'll play at the Pies. Best case he gets a decent chunk of midfield time, but he's still building his game.

Probably goes on to average 70-80.

Hard pass IMO.

Agreed, would need to be keeper at that price. And that's very unlikely.

Yeah I would rather take a chance on Caldwell he should be in $270-290k range

Did we sign Lipinksi to play on the wing or to play inside? That's the question. I actually think he'll get bulk CBA's with Adams and De Goey.
Would need to see a very solid preseason to even consider him, but with MID/FWD DPP, he might be worth a look.

He might be a negative SC influence as he may push Macrae jnr and Daicos jnr down the pecking order so neither of them score well enough.

I was hoping Macrae would still be a valid option priced at 38, but maybe not so much now.

Remember the theory that the drafted kids hadn't played much footy and wouldn't get early games due to a lack of match fitness, so there'd be no rooks? A theory I subscribed to and went full-on MPM, and which turned out to be wrong?

Is there more chance of it happening in 2022? It's now two years of bugger all footy that the Victorian kids have endured.

How can they possibly step up to AFL level from that base?

Someone like a JHF will be fine as he's played a season of SANFL, but he'll be the exception rather than the rule.

Just wondering what others' thoughts about this are
IMO after the top 4 picks (JHF, Daicos, Darcy and Callaghan) the draft is pretty even due to lack of exposed form.
We may get picks in the 20s perform well this year I think.
Which would be great for SC.

Nah, Macrae jnr will still get plenty of mid time, pies midfield is shit. Lipinski doesn't change that

He’s not a great wing so hope it’s the latter.

We had plenty that performed well this year that were picked outside of the Top 20 in 2020 Draft

Pick 21 Jack Bowey
Pick 28 Sam Berry
Pick 30 Caleb Poulter
Pick 32 Errol Gulden
Pick 38 James Rowe
Pick 44 Beau McCreery
Pick 45 Tom Highmore
Pick 46 Tyler Brockman
Pick 52 Luke Edwards

Its going to be hard to work out a team until the pre season games.
Media tend to report on high draft picks. The 20+ picks will require a little research.
I suppose we will have a better idea after the draft.
If a team has weakness in a new blokes position.
From my mob.
North will play Horne. It depends who we get @20 they may be a shot also. (likely to be a defender. either KPD or HBF)

I'm sure we'll have enough rookies, but you're stretching the definition of "performed well" there.

Bowey averaged 45 and no one had him as he was too late.
Berry/McCreery/Brockman were shittruck's
Poulter/Gulden made enough money but both dropped off after great starts.
Rowe did well eventually but lots traded him out too soon after he looked done. Highmore the same really, but that was a bradbury by those that still had him (**** you Ratten you campaigner)
