I just want him to get a tank like Walshy's. The bloke goes hard and runs straight at it, just seems to fade out of games which could be fatigue. If he can get himself supremely fit, he could be anything.
Geez, setting a high bar. There’s probably only a handful of other players that could go with Walsh all game. He’s a freak.

I think Paddy’s tank is probably better than it seems. He hit 14.5km distance travelled last year which is nothing to sneeze at.

A team/midfield structure that isn’t a complete clusterf*** and some clearly defined roles probably does him (and others) wonders.

If we’re playing tighter and more controlled, that’s less running off the bat, rather than the ridiculous spread as wide/open as possible and hope we make zero mistakes ball in hand or cop the turnover with a bloody runway opened up the whole way to the oppositions goals. Add in some clarity around role, running patterns, etc and we’re probably expending less energy as a group too.

Having constant spread as your game plan but also pressure and constant defensive running after the stupid aggressive spread predictably fails makes your repeat sprint numbers way too high. You had to be Sam Walsh fit to look competent in Carltons midfield last season.

early doors may come from the concept of pubs opening very early in the morning to ostensibly cater to shift workers - used these days to describe something that is still in its early stages - joe the goose? no idea where it came from but it's usually used when someone gets a gimme goal over the back

Is Paddy Dow ever going to get shoulders?
Dow isn’t a powerhouse mid to be honest, he’s a first receiver from the powerhouse mids like Cripps, Kennedy, and Setters. Yes, it would be nice if he could win his own ball but geez having him just outside the pack getting the ball and using his hands to move it to on to a fast mover like Saad or Williams on a break from the backline or just getting into the hands of someone like Walsh who’s in the clear and moving would be a massive win this season.

This.
And he doesn't have to create this momentum 25 times a game (like some statistic researchers believe), to be very valuable.

The phrase originates in the practice of British theatres from around 1870 of allowing customers who paid a little extra to enter the theatre early and choose their own seats to beat the rush just before the performance started.

WRONG!!!

'Early doors' was invented by Ratts for use in press conferences.

End of.

Agree on all fronts.
