Here's what gonna happen in 2022
1. Collingwood will finish 13th with a 9-13 record.
2. Nick Dacios will be playing in the defence with the odd occasion of being in the middle when the club is getting thrashed by other teams.
3. Jamie Elliot injury woes continue which leads him into force retirement at the end of the season
4. Brayden Maynard gets a new role in the midfield.
5. Oliver Henry, Jack Ginnivan and Beau McCeery kicks a combined total of 80 goals.
6. Collingwood still can't find themselves a key forward, therefore they use their first round pick on a KFP
7. Charlie Dean debuts early and settles into the defence
8. Injury Crisis still happens, but not as severe as last year.
9. Jordan De Goey requests a trade to another victorian club, we get a top 5 pick.

Well he wouldn't "request a trade" given he is a FA, we'd get compo and he can walk. If the offer is good.

Some very optimistic predictions in here.

We play a better brand of footy, by all reports it looks skills training has become the new mantra for Fly and co (is that how it looks Jen2310 ?). Willing to bet we'll return somewhat to a swarm and spread method and role for role type development, like the game style that almost got us a flag.

Looks as though Fly is looking at a 'system beats talent' line of thinking, I like this!

We finish somewhere in the bottom 6 with maybe 7 -9 wins, 12th to 13th perhaps, but the future looks bright and our list is still gelling while getting games under the belt of our raw young talent. Cop some necessary beltings learnings.

I do think Bruzzy will step up to the next level next year, as a defender still, and our back 6-7 becomes the stingiest once again. Him and Moore get AA nods, at least the 40 squad.

We're still working on our mid to forward ball movement with exciting glimpses for the not too distant future.

We aren't ready yet for 2022 to make finals but the comp knows we're coming in 2023, by 2024 if development goes well we'll be contending and the list is more balanced.

If the footy gods smile upon us (which they don't) then the blose and the bomb outs won't flag before we do.

100% There is a real focus on skills and getting back to the basics of footy. Clean. Kicking skills. Simple things. Some may think, that's junior footy stuff -- Just makes you realize, what have they been doing the last few years? lol

Fly instructs Grundy to tap it to a running midfielder instead of his own feet. We get 10% better.
A midfield built around Adams, De Goey, Pendlebury, Maynard and Lipinski ups the production rate and reduces the flow in the other direction. Another 10%.
More positive game plan means we have larger losses but more wins.
Sidebottom plays primarily off HFF with a brief to tidy up our delivery inside 50.
With more and better entries, Mason Cox holds down FF despite competition from Freddy — kicks 35 goals and sets up a few for others.
We miss the 8 but surprise most people with our improvement. Pundits note that with natural improvement from youngsters we are a good bet to make finals in 2023.
All this talk of being 10% better - Jeff Browne is that you?

In a sting that makes the Franklin transfer to Sydney look second rate, we land Ben King at the end of 2022.

The coup caps off a couple of years of recruiting in which we didn't give a KPP enough focus, however King joining the Pies immediately see the pies look perfectly balanced across the field.

Top 4 in 2023.

Sure. At least one of those in each combo (both actually) are key forwards.

Show me another pair of small forwards who kick that many in a bottom dwelling team.

Mihocek will kick as many as Elliott, and more than Ginnivan. I'm telling you, if we get 70 goals from two small forwards, we'll nearly make finals
As we have a reasonable defence.

Bump. How are your predictions going?

Not so crazy now, huh? But then you do predict that every year 🤣

1. Pies' football opens up and is far more entertaining to watch, however it's not enough to prevent a finish in the bottom three
2. Jamie Elliott has a career best season, booting 45 goals and making the AA squad of 40
3. Ginnivan has a solid breakout, kicking 25-30 goals similar to how Papley performed at 20 years old
4. Charlie Dean gobbles up an early debut and plays out the season, preparing us for a life without Howe and Roughead
5. The Magpies have one All-Australian, and it's Brayden Maynard
6. Lipinski is a disappointment, and doesn't place top 10 in the B&F
7. Jordan De Goey returns to Collingwood and plays, mostly in an effort to up his value, before the club and player part ways at the end of the season
8. De Goey takes the best offer he can get, a generous offer from a declining Geelong and the Magpies go to draft night with two top 4 picks

Prediction 2 was interesting: Elliott has only kicked 26 so far, but has still had a cracking season.
Prediction 3 was decent and even a bit conservative
Prediction 5 nailed it!

8.N.Daicos wins rising star and proves he should have been no1 in draft
9.Collingwood finish in top 4 and surprise us all.

Prediction 9: called it!

Just stumbled across this thread and, with the benefit of hindsight, it makes for some interesting reading. I think it's fair to say that the team and coaching staff have largely exceeded expectations. For mine, winning a final has been a huge positive and playing in a Preliminary Final is well and truly exceeding my wildest expectations. I will be sitting back and watching the Prelim knowing that we are in great hands, that the team is in an excellent position, and hoping for greatness but satisfied with this years' performance irrespective of the result this weekend, or next.
