Saad gives up 3 to 4 goals each week along with Williams. Alot of coaches caught on to him when at essendon. Now they will target through him and Williams as they are not natural defenders and get plenty kicked on them. They are not damaging and i would rather see these two moved to the wing, as the midfield runs one way. There defensive pressure should be ok to force the issue there. I would strengthen our backline up bring in stocker, maybe look at trying someone in back
I think he saved comfortably more than he gave up tonight. His genuine pace stopped them getting out the back a few times. I think he is harshly thought of as a poor defender and I think has clearly improved in that area.

The reality check that we so needed. Durdin, yes I love the kid but that performance must be actioned upon. Cotterill, Newnes, Fisher, Setters, Boyd, Parks are all weak links in the chain.
Durdin for Motlop
Cotterill for LOB
Newnes for Carroll
Fisher for Philp
Setters for Willo
Boyd for Stocker
Parks for Kemp
Absolutely no reason why the match committee (do we still have this???) can't make a statement and make multiple changes and especially for Norf, who in past years would have absof@#$inglootly won this game.......

Out: Cotters, Newnes, Fisher, Setterfield, Boyd, Parks, Pitto (inj), Harry (inj)
In: Stocker, LOB, Dow, Motlop, Carrol, Plowman, Willo, Oscar

Harsh! The boy was clearly hurt, and continued to hit contest after contest.

With all due respect, not sure what game you were watching. He fought through extremely well I thought.
I’m not saying he wasn’t sore but he has in the past done similar where he struggles to get it out of his head. Far from our greatest issue but had a pretty poor night I thought.

Some key issues:

1. Forward 50 entries are lazy...kicking to a huge contest rather than picking a player out.
2. Fisher needs to come out for Carroll, he goes missing way too much and when he has the ball he isn't impacting.
3. Owies is a great story but in reality it's Motlop's position that he is taking. Motlop's upside will be exponentially higher.

Th guys gives up goals, he isnt a natural defender and was a victim of Essendons poor form, that seen him pushed there and alll of sudden becuase he is quick and takes the game on he becomes a backman. He has the pace, skills and qualities to be a standalone wingman, and with the current 6,6,6 would be more damaging both with entries into 50 and score board pressure.

Teams not allowing us to exit out the front of a stoppage nearly as much or as easy as we were when we had our best patches of play earlier in the season.

More posession back and sideways reducing our effective entries.

Could be wrong but it definitely feels that way.

No we arent getting the clear advantage as we dont have a ruckmen. We have also not been looking to run the ball out as much

Harry seems to really struggle when playing under duress. Think he is someone who can’t fight through.
Not sure about that. There was a game last year maybe against Melbourne where he hurt his shoulder but came back on and fought the game out well with multiple goals. I'm not going to judge his effort tonight while we still know nothing about the nature of his injury.

I don’t trust his disposal. That is also my concern but yes, small forwards destroy us because our small defenders we just can’t defend or run back hard to defend. Most wont like this but - Plowman must come in and play lock down defender.

Problem is he would be someone who will get battered over and over again, throw 4 or 5 knocks in and ist tough

I thought we'd win
And perhaps would have with Pitto and Hazza not injured.
That is a lot to recover from when you are already missing SOS and Kennedy.
I agree with all the comments basically saying too many hacks
And we know at least a few have to stay for now.
I sure hope Omac can make it back in for the season....and Guv will help a lot.
But what to do about ruck issue with no spares ready?
Do we pick up a ruck or defender with msd?
I'm really not bothered by tonight.

First game I have seen live this year, gives me a different perspective

Mids were good with limited service

Setterfield is not trying or injured - is Carroll worth a chance

For all the half bank flankers we have - you need to run and create, would much prefer we get caught every now and then trying something rather then bombing long every time

Oh and when we switch - if the long switch is on then take the kick, a short option just gives them time to close it down

We need Stocker in to create some run and carry

Weiters - love the courage but take a mark every now and then young fellow

We need JackSOS back - Harry and Charlie need someone smart to create space for them on leads (too often being shepherded out of contests)

Was it just me seeing it but our forwards were often spoiled with a defender jumping into them with no eyes on the ball???
If the umps want respect then do your job ya peanuts

Oh yeah - we need Pittonet back

I must say forward of centre we seemed to lower our eyes a bit more then recent weeks

We also seemed to defend the corridor better this week

Surprised how one sided the incorrect disposal calls were - maybe the umps were unsighted - maybe I was just caught up in the game, if not then our boys need to work on getting the arms free and not commit so many to tackles as they aren’t paying many

Bring Saad and Williams up onto the wings. Plowman and Stocker to the back line.

Add Kennedy, Silvagni, Carroll & Dow as mid/fwds and we are a significantly better side.

They seem to have made commitments to a few pre-season that they’d get a run of 5-6 games to build their confidence. We need to give others their chance.

Hopefully McGovern not too far away either.

Disposal poor, below average fell away, defensive loses is the highest they have been ever been so he is being targeted, and impact on scroeboard non exsistent. Hes not giving us great value

Dockers a rung above us. Smalls didn't get much of a look at it despite plenty of entries landing on the forwards' heads.
4-2 and a form line that's starting to look a bit shaky.
Tonight they were, long term we still have so much ability to come into this team, proven by way 2’s are going. I’ll be stuffed if our list isn’t deeper than theirs. Outs:

Gov
Pitto
Stock
Kennedy
Carroll
Honey
Kemp
JSOS
Motlop
Cuners
Philp
Dow
O Mac
Marchy

Just wait till a decent mix of these players come into the team in the coming weeks and months

I’ve seen two people suggest Williams to the wing. craaazy

Wing is about fitness and gut running.
Williams output doesn’t match his salary. I’d rather we keep newnes on the wing than Williams (shudder). Yuck
