WC walk roiling to draft.
WB walk dunkley to draft

Rioli and dunkley available at ports pick- who do they take?

And if they choose Dunkley and no one else is prepared to take Riolis nominated terns, what is the backlash/fallout. This woukd be fascinating
Take the best player available. I like Junior, but he's not a player you'd ever pick ahead of Dunkley and there may be some fallout from Juniors side, but I don't think anyone would blame Port for the choice they made.

The thing people generally don't understand about Hobart is that it is actually a beach culture down here.

Most households have either a kayak, fishing boat, sailing boat, paddle board ... lots of fishing, sailing, swimming, surfing.

Add in the great walks and hikes in real wilderness, some of the best golf courses in Australia, great local food and drink, strong art community, and a real work-life balance thing. It's not too bad.

Bring in some AFL every other week with our own team in a new flashy stadium, just another tick on the list :)

My brother was posted somewhere in Tassie for a couple of years. He absolutely loved it. By the time it dawned on us that we could stay in the officers mess for about $10/night he’d finished in Tassie and Mossman and was in ****ing puckapunyal. Everywhere he was posted after that was either a war zone or he didn’t stay in barracks. What a waste.

I dunno, I had a mate, Dave, who grew grass under his roof...just need the right lighting apparently

Bit more to it than light. I grew it in a flood and drain table back when the SA government were pretty much begging people to grow it. Did my bit for the state economy, you can all thank me at your own pace.

Nothing happens on the weekend I assumed

I assume clubs still talk and work through things but nothing is put out to the media until Monday. I can’t imagine Port, North and West Coast going home for the weekend and then renewing talks Monday

At this stage, it probably depends on Geelong completing everything they need to get done before then
But the AFL will just give Geelong an extension of the deadline like they did with Cameron, because they are happy to apply different rules to different clubs.

I'm hearing more mainstream media talking about the inequity of the AFL trade week. Big and successful clubs attracting the big names who largely are leaving smaller, less successful clubs etc...

We've known it for years but what Geelong and Richmond are doing this year shows the AFL has failed in equalisation.

We should be more outraged publically and expose these failings.

The AFL is biased AND corrupt!

All the expansion teams have done is made Victorian teams stronger.

All the expansion teams have done is made Victorian teams stronger.
This was the game plan probably right from the beginning by the VFL.

Look at all the grand final winners over the last 20 years and look how many key players that were TAKEN from non-Victorian teams, would be very interesting.

They just hold and filter the best players until the big VIC teams are ready to poach them.
Its basically an extended nursery to grow and nurture the players till they are ready to represent a Victorian Club.

Ive always said the key to winning a flag is when the majority of our good players are from SA.

It’s been so successful for them it’s almost like they came up with the Gold Coast and GWS expansion model at the Victorian Football crisis meeting they all held after Sydney and West Coast played consecutive Grand Finals on the back of Adelaide, Brisbane & Port all winning Flags in the late 90’s & early 2000’s... 🤔

Tin foil hat stuff.

I remember that, it was a crisis in Victoria in the 00s. They did have those meetings too. Fact.

I mean, the AFL didn't hide the fact they gave GC and GWS such a large amount of draft concessions when they started because they believed a large number of them would go back to Victorian teams when they got a chance. AFL knew/know it's always going to be a problem.

Yeah, but an even more basic cause is where players are coming from ... last 2 drafts (according to wikipedia) have players from states as:

2020 top 50
VIC 26 WA 8 SA 12 OTHER 4

2020 top 15
VIC 8 WA 3 SA 3 OTHER 1

2021 top 50
VIC 30 WA 11 SA 8 OTHER 1

2021 top 15
VIC 10 WA 2 SA 3 OTHER 0

and it's been generally like that for some time (I think).

Means that the best Vic players drafted interstate will generally end up back in Vic when they decide to move.

In fact I wouldn’t be surprised if things really move over the weekend. More focused on closing out deals

That twitter rumour is based on a twitter rumour.

Original twitter rumour was Port gave Fabian a new car (MG of course!) last year so he'd spend the entire year getting in his ear about returning home to go to Port. Just baseless twitter crap I'd say, Port wouldn't have a need to do any of that to get Fabian to do that I imagine.
