Draper, Darcy, Gawn, Jackson, McInerney, Cameron, English, Hickey, Witt's, Nankervis, Marshall, Reeves, Preuss are all better. Not top ten.

Incorrect. Statistically in the top 3 Rucks in the competition. Fair enough arguable aside from stats he has some deficiencies he needs to work on, but to say he’s not Top 10 is laughable.

You, and others, need to drop this ROB obsession. We have plenty more pressing issues in terms of player performance than ROB not being exactly the Ruck you want him to be

Top 3 based on what?

He's not top 10 in either hitout win rate or hitout to advantage win rate (not even top 20 for HTA%). Raw stats inflated by attending the most ruck contests of any player in the AFL.

Average ruck for things like clearances, marks, score involvements...

We don't have the cattle. We are the youngest team in the league and have been signing both emerging and quality established players on longer term contracts (ie front loading).

In my opinion, signing JHF on a good package should be more of a priority than Grundy, but we probably have the cash for both.

If not, keep the draft capital unless Grundy decides he loves the Crows and won't play anywhere else. Then maybe 2 early 2nds will get it done.

Sorry? 2 early seconds for what?

If Collingwood are looking at a salary dump it will be a negligible trade scenario, probably a swap if picks same to Treloar situation. Even with the Trelaor trade they’re still paying $300K of his $900K contract for 5 years..

If it’s a true salary dump, and they ask Crows to cover 90-100% of his contract, then Crows would absolutely be asking for something else in the trade, most likely a high draft pick

‘Raw stats inflated by attending the most ruck contests of any player in the AFL.’

You mean, his job?

Talk about confirmation bias…

By your rationale then he doesn’t get the opportunity to rest up forward like other Rucks do, and is therefore an endurance beast in getting to the most Ruck contests in the AFL?

Is he a good ruck that wins a lot of ruck contests, or just an average ruck that gets to a lot of contests?

His job is to win ruck contests, not merely get to them

He'll need to work on his spin if he wants a job at the AFC

Draper Reeves Hickey definitely not. Darcy similar on form this year

Draper is absolutely better than R.O.B. I don't know how anyone could think otherwise. You could make a strong case for Hickey too, he was terrific last year but has struggled with injury this year.

I don't think ROB is as bad as some make out here at times but to suggest he's legit a top 3 ruck in the comp I think is an exaggeration. Stats may show it, but Nicks has us playing a high stoppage game so of course he gets more hit outs than most others but that's by design of game style rather than pure excellence. I actually thought he wasn't too bad yesterday, had 7 score involvements, some decent taps to advantage and actually was responsible at the start of a chain leading to goals a couple times. The part that I have issues with at the moment is his inability to hold marks in the defensive end, it's been doing us a lot of harm at times this year. That was once his strength so its a shame he's gone so far back off his best in this regard.

I do tend to agree we have other issues that are more pressing than ROB alone but there are definitely guys I'd prefer over him & he shouldn't have a gold pass. We saw he was genuinely decent against Geelong after he got dropped so that should be a wake up call to us if his form drops away what we need to do to get the best out of him.

Where can you find the ratio for HO/ruck contests ?

Footywire has HO differentials for teams but not players.

We’re 11th btw, and Essendon are 3rd, so Draper must be doing something well.
I love Drapers physical presence, he's getting forward and hitting the score board regularly of late too. If we could get him I'd be all for it.

Grundy was pretty poor at the start of the year.

Not sure we should take the risk to be honest. Yeah there is great upside, but if his best is past him could be a costly mistake.

He strikes me as the exact sort of guy list management will target in a panic to get back up the ladder.

And on top Nix feels the need to publicly tell everyone that we still want Crouch at the club in 2023. Why do we feel the need to protect senior player egos like this?
It's playing the game. It happens with players who want out, but who say they love the club etc months before packing their bags.

What are you basing your opinion on? The vibe?

Draper has had a disappointing year and has had a bunch of weeks where he's contributed close to nothing. There's barely three years age difference, so it's not like Draper is a kid.
