Who didn't want to leave and from memory our reasoning was pretty weak?

Trying to recall which admin that was under
It was under Sando and in year two of our draft sanctions. The club was pretty forthright that they traded Vince to try and get an early pick.

Matt's attitude in this whole thing has been pretty piss poor. I can get being disappointed or frustrated, but we constantly hear how angry he is, how furious he is. How he can't believe this has happened to him, how he's been blindsided by it. Mate, it's elite team sport. You're not owed a spot, and you are only as good as your contribution to the team. If you don't fit in the side there's no point getting angry about it. You're not Leigh Matthews mate, you're a player who was once very good and is now just good, and you don't fit into our current structure or our future plans. You're not being dudded by being left out the side. Your presence in the side is just no longer a positive.

It would be one thing if we were flying on-field, but we've been a basket case for years now. Time to move on.
A lot of that is media mayo though. Like the 2nd time it happened the reports were he was "devastated" by his dropping and you listen to the actual interview and he's asked if he's disappointed and he replies "Yea, obviously I'm disappointed..." and never used the word devastated in the entire interview.

It's a continuation of senior players putting themselves in front of the club/team.

An issue we've seen from the AFC for a decade.
The reality is that all players eventually become redundant to a club. That's football. His lack of pace, no hurt factor and lack of defensive accountability are the reasons why he is no longer required. He should be happy for his career at the club and look at the positives. All good things must come to an end.

Or he could change his game

Take the criticism on the chin and work on getting back into the side - use that frustration and anger as motivation

Regarding the Crouch comments, I would expect a coach in public to always support a player under pressure like Matt has been this year. Even if nobody believes the comments, a good coach will not publically execute a player.

Nicks had no choice. He'd be a lesser coach and man if he did otherwise.
You really think hearing one thing from the coach in the public domain and then acting in the complete opposite is good for the player and club?

He didn't need to say that all.

He could have been more authentic and say Crouch has challenges ahead of him, but all players go through this. At the end of the day he's a part of this club and we support our players through these tough times.

I think by blatantly lying in the public domain he is a lesser coach.

Hey fact is things change, so unless you are sitting at the desk behind the closed door you are never getting things 100%. End of the day you don't look like an attention seeker, so if you hear anything you are allowed to share, share it. It's why it is called a rumour thread not a fact thread.
Yeah Thats sounds logical but as soon as the club takes that strategy everyone on here will start yelling out "why are we playing Matt. Give the lids ago" Cant win either way.

Spot on, and tbh I think he’s still got some trade value if we chip in for his wages.

You’re speaking to a majority group of perpetual naysayers here mate. If you’re looking for constructive criticism, you won’t find it here. Grown men throwing the toys out of the pram at every literally any opportunity. I’m just waiting for someone to blame this on the camp, Trigg, or Ricciuto,

There should be a boomer bingo drinking game for usual complaints thrown around this place

He can barely kick over a jam tin which is why he has to handball. If you can’t kick any sort of reasonable distance you are going to struggle.

We could cover this when we were flying but not anymore.
He appears to have dropped off a cliff without his brother there to receive his handball out the back. Brad seems to have struggled without getting the handball as well. Maybe the saints should look at getting matt

It's no coincidence imo that his form has gone down without his brother in the side

I've always been a bit skeptical of that theory. A player doing what they can to be selected ahead of a younger player, I don't really have a problem with that. Hell, a player expecting to be selected ahead of a younger player, again, I don't have a problem with it as long as the tail isn't wagging the dog and the team selection panel is making the right decisions (the latter is where my ire is usually directed). Elite players should be a bit arrogant, should expect to make it in the side, even if they're getting old, or are beat up, or out of form, or whatever.

But being actively angry at the club because you're not getting a game? It really feels like Matt believes he is owed matches as long as he can keep getting 30 touches, and that somehow the club is doing him dirty by not playing him. Like somehow they're violating their contract with him. That's a shitty attitude to have, and it seems like his continued presence at the club is a net negative even before his salary and list spot is taken into account.

I think he believes he’ll contribute on his terms. These are the standards he sets for himself, and what he thinks is important for the team.

He’ll keep on performing in the way he wants, and expects that to be enough

Both brothers looked better when peak Sloane and Jacobs were around.

Perhaps you ought to watch STK games before commenting on their players

Brad is flying

He sees what mchenry is dishing up and wondering why given his service to the club lol...

I remember being at the game also. Still hurts.

I think we just choked and let them run over the top of us. Cousins/Kerr were just outstanding players for them and always tore us to shreads.

The drugs line helps some supporters come to grips with that loss but we lost that game after being in a winning position.

A Neil Craig special.
