JJ is trying to cash in, but it's finally put a fullstop to it.

I don’t get how this has changed at all.
Surely if you want to put someone back you start them on the back side of the wing, the player you want on the wing starts up at high half forward.
It would be around 5 seconds to get your setup to where you want it with a spare back.
How many clearances get out that quickly

Not sure of the exact stats ...I do remember hearing, more goals are being scored from centre bounces now

Clubs have been bolstering their midfield with more speedy players .....getting to the fall of the ball quickly is paramount now, and has suited the likes of Laird & Berry ......Crouch has struggled over that first 2-3 mtrs

What you're suggesting re centre bounce setup, does happen .....but it's also the transition play, the need to apply midfield pressure, as well as fwd pressure, to create turnover scoring opportunities .....Crouch is a traffic cone, the problem is you can't hide him, except on the bench

not sure about that. likely compo would be 3rd rd, end of 2nd if we were really lucky, but possibly none at all. Also he'd be a UFA.

Maybe not in the top 25% but I reckon he might maintain the same status as when he first became a FA, which would make him restricted until after his 10th season. In any case, it's irrelevant as we wouldn't match, we'd just hope to get something.

Surely they wouldn't have offered Crouch 500-600k. That's idiotic if true. He would have probably stayed for minimum wage seeing as there was no other takers elsewhere.

Of course we would have signed him on minimum chips, do people honestly think we would have signed him on big wages when he was coming off an injury we probably weren’t even sure he’d come back from, let alone the fact he had ZERO other offers under Free Agency? Do people with a brain honestly think in this day and age of player contracts that we’d be worried about ‘offending’ Crouch given the above?

It literally mentions right here he’s on reduced wages.

I’m sure we would have provided their manager with a few different options, and option ‘multiple years’ would have no doubt been on less money

I think it's much closer to Sunshine (maybe even less) plus bonuses for games played etc, which is why he's so upset.

He had zero offers, so I imagine we gave him a contract with a lot of upside if he came back and did well. Neither side gave much thought to Crouch being fit but unwanted.

I've believed it's about the bonus targets for a while, and Crouch being upset that he's not getting the chance to achieve them.

I hear you. But the flipside to that is we wont know what impact burgess will have in the offseason with who is already here and for once under him we may well get that organic growth in our younger...fitter...mids

With our 1st retained next year, we could make a big play for JHF IF he wants out or according to some, the top end next year is going to be very very strong so we get a top ender then. Thats the other argument to holding next years pick and using this years.

Rankine and Rachele both will be spending time in the middle. Surely we see a bit more of Pedlar. Taylor will be pushing for selection too.
