I understand why Doods gets suggested but I’m not too keen. Been out of form but still putting up pretty decent intercept numbers.

I still expect him to be captain next year.

Unfortunately if we are to nab JHF we need to come to the party with regards to trade value.

I mentioned Sean Wellman earlier in a post but he is one who the Crows rated extremely high however by trading him, it helped the Crows grab Darren Jarman.

Everyone walked away happy.

People need to get it out of their heads that Crouch, Sholl, Frampton & Himmelberg ain't going to be enough capital to obtain JHF, or Rankine for that matter.

Intercept defender is something we can afford to give up and Doedee would be an attractive option to a North Melbourne rather than a Worrell.

If we got Brennan Cox, Doedee is a player we should look to trade to pay for Rankine or Cox.

It was on Ch7 news. I'm guessing it's because we apparently had a crack at him last year so 7 have likely come to the conclusion that we'll have another go this year. Didn't sound like there was any intel behind it.

Everyone likes Tom. I think the trade talk is just banter and daydreaming trade options.

However, I'll try and answer the question seriously as it is growing legs in here.

Doedee is still young and is a capable and established AFL player. Clubs will value his ready to go status and also his exposed form. No surprises in recruiting him. If a club had a capability gap on their list in Tom's area, he'd be desirable for sure. Solid performer.

The fact he has some genuine trade value makes him a board hypothetical. There are many on our list with less value. It's about who can we trade for enough value to upgrade for a potentially higher talent.

This brings in the central premise of the idea to trade him.

Doedee has an exposed ceiling. Any improvement in Tom from now on is likely to be only marginal. By trading him, we get the opportunity to potentially find a better player with a higher ceiling. It's a risky bet to place but that doesn't matter much to us BF recruitment managers. We embrace risk and love a quick fix.

Two central themes here on BF by most posters is seeking change and impatience. That's why we offer up one thousand half baked PlayStation ideas. Me too. I love doing this as it allows me to play a somewhat realistic version of fantasy football. In the real world however, things are much more conservative and happen in real time. Not our uber accelerated fantasy football timeframe.

Tom Doedee may get traded if the club think it's for the best and he is willing to go. Many in here have had their say for and against. Meanwhile, we can enjoy the BF banter and back and forth of ideas. It's why I'm here.

For the record, Brennan is a good chance to make the All Australian Squad. Butts and Murray, Zero chance.

IMHO, our greatest need is a key defender. I like Butts and he has had a better season than some posters have suggested. Murray has shown some promising flashes but is no guarantee to make it as an AFL footballer. That leaves Billy Frampton and Borlase.

Very good player and a key defender is definitely a list need, but he would cost a shitload.

Like many on here last year were somewhat ignorant of who Dawson was or his true ability or real worth. Posters laughed when told he'd be our best player, the ignorant are not laughing now. Pity Nicks doesn't play him full time wing like Sydney were.

I think it's fair if people only manage limited non-Crows games - depending on work, gigs or my own footy commitments, I sometimes miss even the single Crows game on the weekend - I don't pretend to know every player from every club and asking about a player from another team shouldn't end in derision

I like watching other teams as a neutral observer as it's less stressful than watching my own side. There are always going to be sides that slip through the cracks though as I don't use Foxtel or Kayo and only get whatever free to air gives me. Freo just happen to be one of those sides I rarely get to watch. Also I have a partner who hates football and actually wants to spend time with me on weekends. I can't just sit around watching footy.

Can anyone explain what type of player Cox is?

Is he Butts type - lock down big?
Is he Murray type - suited to 2nd tall, more mobile forwards?
Is he Doedee type - intercept, 3rd tall?

I'm trying to figure out where he would fit.
