VFL 2022 Sandringham Zebras

We’ve apparently only offered him one year and the Bombers are interested in him.

I say apparently because it’s from BF. But why would he stay? He’s not getting the opportunities. Could have replaced Gresh with a bit of a re-shuffle in the midfield.
Our coaching panel too conservative and set in their ways imo.

The problem with finishing just out of the 8 (apart from draft picks) is that you're in contention until late so much more likely to be conservative with team selection and plans. If we'd been no chance of finals five rounds ago then Bytel would surely have played and shown what he can do.

We are setting the world on fire
Have offered him 1 year druggies have offered him 2 years and have told him they see him as their inside mid

How they got Hind for free too.

He did grow up near them so maybe he wants to get closer to family.

But don't really see how he becomes a permanent mid for them. Would have thought he would be behind Parish, Merret, Caldwell, Shiel, Stringer, McGrath, Langford and Hobbs.

But all the power to him if he can get more years their.

Here’s the thing though, they don’t really have that big-bodied inside “pig” like Bytel though, so he could actually compliment their midfield very well.

He could be the one feeding it out to the likes of Merrett, Parish, Caldwell, Shiel and co.

We on the other hand have Steele and Crouch in ours already and having another of that type in Bytel would simply be too much of the same thing, with the way the game is played these days. It’s no longer the 80’s or 90’s.

We will also presumably be wanting to get more midfield time into another big-bodied inside pig in Owens, and it would be much harder to do that if Bytel’s in there. Then of course we’ll also want Windy playing there a lot going forward. And hopefully Clark, if he gets himself fitter.

And who knows, maybe a De Goey/Taranto/Bruhn.

So as much as I’m a big fan of what Bytel can do, him going to Essendon makes a lot of sense, for him and them.

Sad, but probably right.

Yes it makes sense for him but it still makes sense for us to hang on to him.

If the rejigged Barham Bombers decide they don't want Bytel, maybe Richo will talk the Demons into getting him to keep Dunstal company at Casey until
he's required at AFL level.

What an F ing joke , Allison must have got a vote for each time he touched it throughout the year

Allison played a lot of games, I reckon that's what helped him accumulate votes. Also Connolly finished second because of getting on the park a lot.

18: Allison
17: Connolly
16:
15: Heath
14: Peris
13:
12: Bytel, Campbell, Kent
11: Highmore, Joyce
10:
9: Byrnes
8: Adams, Owens, Sharman
7: Geary, Lienert
6:
5:
4: Billings, Kyle
3: Clark, Jones, Windhager
2: Butler, Hannebery, Wanganeen-Milera, Wood
1: Higgins, Long, Paton, Ryder

Not too surprising really given the different numbers of games played, though Heath should probably have finished top 10 given he had a lot of shots at it.

A better measure is probably votes per game.

10.4: Campbell
10.0: Highmore
9.1: Bytel
7.8: Peris
7.3: Connolly
7.2: Heath (maximum, probably less)
6.4: Allison

That's cooked, also who did Joyce upset? I thought he'd be in the top 5 at least
