Disappointing to give up a 3 goal lead with 10 minutes to go. Great match for us to have leading into the finals, we've had it fairly easy for most of the season.

Plenty of learnings to take away from the game, out played in many aspects today.

the draw we had to have?
It's the second draw for us, we drew with the Saints in like Round 5.

So we've drawn with two of the other top 4 teams, we get a replay against the Saints next week and then the Demons in the last round.

Then play them all again in finals I guess.

Top 6 is a weird system though, if we finish top 2 we play the qualifying final, and then if you lose that you play an elimination semi to get through to the prelim, while the winner gets a GF qualifier as the semi (loser of that plays in the prelim).

If we end up in an elimination final though then either we lose and bomb out, or if we win it will depend where we're ranked. The higher seed EF winner gets the double chance against the QF winner in the grand final qualifier, the lower seed EF winner gets the do or die semi against the QF loser.

Slowing things down to try eat up the clock had us on the back foot. When the game was back on we won it out of the centre, despite a great smother from a Hawthorne player, and kept it up our end.

Missed McIntosh out there, especially in the first half, normally fights so hard when we're outnumbered inside forward 50 and the ball doesn't get back out as we set up across the ground.

I think we're fitter, and still comfortable we can go the distance with the other top sides. No doubt they think we're gettable, but our tough lead in to finals means they're unlikely to catch us in a complacent mood.

i meant going into the finals
Well yeah that's what I was trying to say in the first part but probably didn't articulate it well, we have dominated the bottom half of the ladder and barely played against similar teams, so getting a bit of feedback now is necessary. But we also need to win games because the top of the ladder is close and the penalty for slipping into 3-6 is high.
