ESSENDON are extremely optimistic about Georgia Patrikios playing AFLW football this time next year.

Copied from the AFLW forum. What a kick in the nuts if we lose Patrikios, Priest and Cutting...

I'm pretty sure that list is just speculation on TW's part. Cutting and Priest were drafted/signed out of SA and Patrikios has history with Essendon, so they're obvious ones. I'd be genuinely shocked if Priest left, though. Even if the contracts are non-binding, I'd take Priest signing an extra year to be a signal of intent to stay.

My impression from the last rounds of expansion is that a lot of the movement is random and not easily foreseeable. Other than Emma Kearney, I'm not sure any of the big names that moved were expected.

Can’t access but there better not be talk about her getting the jab then switching teams.

Georgia Patrikios will not play AFL Women’s next season if the league’s vaccine mandate policy stays in place.
The St Kilda star – who was considered in the top 10 players in the competition before she missed the 2022 season after a refusal to be vaccinated against coronavirus – remains unvaccinated against Covid-19 after revealing her hesitancy last November.

Patrikios’ manager Alex Saundry confirmed to News Corp Australia with the young Saint’s permission that the situation remains as it has in recent months and that if the policy stands then she will not participate in the upcoming season, which is expected to be brought forward to August.

Georgia Patrikios’s career remains on hold while she is unvaccinated.

The TGA approval of the protein-based Novavax vaccination did not sway the firm stance of Patrikios, who turns 21 on Wednesday.

She is also out of contract, though Saundry remains optimistic regarding ongoing talks with St Kilda.

The Saints have remained in dialogue with the rising star nominee, with the Patrikios camp heartened by the club’s ongoing support.

It is understood that she remains firmly committed to St Kilda and would not pursue a move elsewhere.

The club could look to keep Patrikios — who was not moved to inactive in 2022 — on its playing list in an effort to retain her should her stance change, meaning it would be giving up a spot on its list for another player to join the club.

So the good news is she is doesn't want to change clubs. Bad news is she still isn't vaccinated so wont be able to play.

That's a nice line about the support from the club. She's copped a lot of abuse but at the end of the day she is human. I just wish she wasn't throwing away years of a short footballing career, a lifetime of special memories, for something so trivial.

Keeping her on the list would be a nice gesture, but I can't see how she would be paid for it. Is it even possible to list players without pay? I would think there's a minimum contract. Maybe she could do some off-field work for us, but work from home as she isn't allowed at the club. Hey, don't we we need some social media staff?? 🙃

St Kilda is hoping to prise Lamb from the Bulldogs, with the club desperate to add experience to a young midfield group that struggled this season and ultimately finished second-last with a 2-8 record.
It comes after a career-best season for the 27-year-old, after she averaged 18.7 disposals per game. Her year was highlighted by an inspired display against Geelong, where she won 26 disposals and seven tackles.

Cutting and Meyer are back in SA and both had good wins for Norwood and South respectively. Both amongst the best. They might end up playing against each other in a month's time for the final round.

Jakobsson is a very worthy winner. Such a steady and consistent force down back all season.

Things would have gotten a lot uglier without her.
