Love this call. He is a bloody good young player. Goody and Co would love his competitiveness.

If memory serves, he was one we tried desperately to move up to get on draft night a few years back so I wouldn't be surprised if he was on our radar if there are any rumblings about him wanting to go home.

Butters would be a top 10 pick + decent 2nd. Probably worth it, but you got to get the picks first.

A couple of left-field players I really like as a future hibbo replacement are Mitch Hinge at Adelaide (UFA) and Lachie Young at North (OOC and Hayden’s older brother). Both are late bloomers but have decent size, pace and aggression.

I would say more because AFAIK he's under contact.

I wonder if we're any chance of getting involved in the GWS firesale. We've had a pretty friendly trading relationship with them over the years, so hopefully we're chasing someone of need.

Seems like mostly overpaid inside mids is what they are looking to ship. We don't have room or need for em. I love Haynes but that's probably the second least position of need.

Yeah that's true. You'd love to be a club after an inside mid, getting Taranto or Hopper on the cheap.

Apparently Tanner Bruhn is on the move too?

0 chance of butters. He's worth more than Jackson
I think Jackson would be worth a bit more (not a lot), given his height and flexibility and Butters' injury woes.

We're probably going to get significant draft capital from the Jackson trade, why not dangle it out in front of a team like Port who may be sliding into a rebuild and have an eye on some SA players in the draft?

I'd prefer we went after a proven gun that can step in R1 next year and contribute rather than more 18 year olds.

I'm sure we are plotting something

Has anyone even watched him play? Couldn't tell you anything about him except his draft profile is inside mid.
He plays more as a mid forward.

If there's a player I'd compare him to, he's probably more like a zac bailey type. I reckon he fills out a bit more and becomes quite dangerous 1 on 1. Loves a goal.

Hasn't shown heaps yet, just glimpses. Reckon him hating being in Sydney is a factor.

This trade period is shaping up to have a couple of entertaining features. By God I miss the bigfooty days when Saints reckoned they were getting Fyfe though. Pure gold
It was about this time of the year that they were putting together their best 22's with Fyfe on a HFF

One guy kept repeating this weird, fantasy scenario where playing for Saints would mean that he would buy a mansion at Black Rock but could visit friends in the inner north to enjoy hipster culture. It was weirdly specific and repeated several times.

Yep - if Jackson goes we need another significant piece. And in place of getting a big free agent (like Richmond did with Lynch) we'll have the picks to pay for something good from a non-tender.

Even heavily overpaying for it would be ok - depending who it was.

From what I've seen, he doesn't look to have the agility or pace of Bailey (likely becuase of his history of knee problems from his junior days). He kind of reminds me of a young McCluggage with his ability to win his own ball but also do damage on the outside. I'd be keen if we got Freo's first and future first and were able to move one of those for him.

Butters is pretty wishful thinking. He's Port's most valuable piece after Rozee, and is still only 21 + contracted until 2025. No way Port moves him on

Yeah that's a fair assessment. I'm probably thinking of what he "could" become, even though bailey isn't a finished product himself.

Definitely likes winning his own ball, but can still see him being dangerous inside 50 or on the outside. Without looking up his stats, he strikes me as a quick decision maker/mover, either being lightning quick over say 30m.

Not sure who he reminds me of long term, but he's a long penetrative kick, tackles, moves well and is pretty tough in the contest. Could see him being a Paul Chapman type longer term

Return of Preuss?

But in all seriousness - Toby Green.

I like it how you said 'in all seriousness' and then suggested Toby Greene [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] (he'd be amazing for us if there was any chance of getting him tbf)
