It'd effectively be a salary dump for Collingwood, so doubt the draft picks would be worth all that muchGrundy would be awful. He’s a gun when on song but serious recent injuries, large contract and one dimensional. Would also cost a decent amount of draft capital.

Obviously a KPF is a more pressing need, however, if Jackson goes for picks and we get Grundy in for not much in the way of draft capital with Coll paying a decent chunk of salary, it's not terrible. He'd still be an upgrade on Jackson.
It's one thing to want a star KPF, it's another for one to actually be available

I mentioned it a while back when mooted a few weeks ago from Matty Rendell, I thought it was a bit coocoo at the time, mainly due his contact length. Rendell suggested that the idea is to have Grundy come in and play more ruck and Gawn plays more forward. From what I saw on Friday Gawn forward doesn't exactly excite me either.Ooooooh so we can bring him in after he misses the whole preseason due to injury and can't train with the forwards, then we can tear him to shreds for being an awful KPF next year.
I like it
Without Jackson our back-up ruck options are absolutely grim (cheers Weid), that’s surely the thinking around Grundy. He was a gun, not sure about now though.
He’s one of their best players lol. He’s just injured a lot. Which is an issue. But I’ll back the club if they think he’s a good fit.he's on a million a year, even with a discount thats still going to be a huge price tag for a bloke that can barely get into collingwoods best 22.
Stuff that I'm sending it full Danster, I floated it on here first and then that campaigner bloody stole the idea. That's right Rendell you filthy grubI mentioned it a while back when mooted a few weeks ago from Matty Rendell, I thought it was a bit coocoo at the time, mainly due his contact length. Lol grundys not my favourite player but he's the very opposite of a tap ruckman, at his best he was probably the elite version of what Jackson is trying to be.he's not injured alot. 20+ games each season the last 6 years, only this year has been cooked. he just offers nothing except be a tap ruckman which isn't even remotely worth the price tag. if he came to melbourne it would be to alternate forward like jackson does, except he offers basically nothing whenever he's moved there, so all we'd be doing is getting another jackson without the ground level skills and 10 years older. there's a reason collingwood are trying to offload him.

At his best he was worth a first and second round pick which we won't be paying so your points kinda irrelevant. Until I hear what the deal looks like not gonna melt.at his best being the key words. he's nowhere near that anymore, and hasnt been even while fit. unless it's a huge discount (like half or more), they'd be insane to commit to him, as he has a huge contract left with collingwood.
If grundy was still worth anything near what he's being payed, collingwood wouldn't be trying to offload him.
It really isn't a good year to lose Jackson. Unless WCE get involved, we aren't looking at any high draft picks and there really are dregs that are available in regards to gettable players. It is what it is but it feels like we're not going to get a huge haul out of him leaving.
Elliott Himmelberg, McStay, Lobb, Riccardi, Koschitzke, Bruce would probably be the realistically gettable ones off the top of my head. None inspire confidence.I reckon there would definitely be some talented KPFs who are gettable, just depends what we are willing to give up.
