Good point, surely we offered them this? Surely. Very weird.
Yeah, maybe they knew they wouldn't be able to get a pick in that range for those picks but they would have a lot more to work with.

OR they think they can wait for the Jackson deal to go through and try and force us to give up one of those picks for Grundy.

Collingwood apparently pissed at us, What we traded for pick 27 was the equivalent of pick 14 based on points.

I said we got hosed at the time with that trade but didnt realise it was by that much.

What I find truly bizarre is that they aren't as pissed at the Cats for low-balling Ollie Henry.

If Collingwood wanted a pick between 20-25 they would need to come from either West Coast, Brisbane, Essendon, Adelaide or Hawthorn.

If we had given them 33, 43 and 53 straight up it would leave Collingwood with 16, 33, 41, 43, 50, 51, 53

Surely you can do some creative pick swapping with that lot to get yourselves into that range.

I think they know the Jackson compo is untouchable, hence asking for a pick between 20-25

My theory in this scenario is they knew there was no way we could get a pick between 20-25 because they already asked around and so they thought they could demand one of the Jackson picks with maybe some later pick swapping involved.

Seems to me they are lazy and wanted us to get a trade organised for them, the only conclusion I can make.
Too busy drinking coffee and playing solitaire.

Man can't wait for trade week to finish, I don't think we just traded off those picks If Collingwood were going to reject it. There's obvious more to it but at the end of the day all these trades will get done.

If we give up a first for Grundy in any form im going to be pissed. We should really be offering less than we are given they desperately want him gone and we are the only club hes nominated.

Nah it won't happen. Collingwood will fold. They have planned their entire trade period around getting him out, too costly for them to get pissy about a couple of picks.

That being said I'm expecting us to fold on Jackson. Just reckon the clubs losing the player are always at a disadvantage.

I think we fold too, cant see Freo budging, particularly after how the Hogan deal worked out, people can think that has nothing to do with it but I reckon clubs absolutely hold grudges over stuff like that. Dont want to be made to look silly again by the same club.

We definitely fold, as shit as it is 2 picks in the teens are better than nothing.

I think next years Freo pick could easily be a top 10 pick. Its not a terrible deal. I hope we dont trade that away for some magic beans.

It's also just s**t luck he wants to move to a finals team. If Freos bottom 6 we get that pick
Yeah it's a shame all of West Coast's interest is just a complete bluff.

Yeah, agreed. Considering what we've learned over the past few years about how footy clubs operate and communicate when no ones looking (our own included) I highly doubt that they are zen temples of rationality.

Bloke on main board did some analysis on why the current points system for picks is bogus

Thinking about this more it would have been so easy for Collingwood to trade with Brisbane who are trying to stack draft points.

I would be pushing for Freos 2 first rounders & Norths 2nd rounder with some change back the other way

3 picks inside 20 is still a decent return
