I believe the Grundy deal has been done. Pick 27 was given. I can't get access to Twitter, perhaps if someone can verify.

Since no ready made key forward is coming over, as yet, maybe the midfield will just need to learn how to kick the ball a bit better for next year.

Can’t believe how hard people are melting over the loss of Jacko and fringe players. 22/23 premiership players still on the list, and the players we lost are mostly in positions where we have heaps of depth or they just weren’t up to snuff.

Jacko hurts, but Grundy in is a tick given the scenario. Pick a development ruck to get loads of Casey time with a view to them replacing Max in 3 years. We are good at this shit, we have had high quality rucks for 30 years.

And then go for talent. Build for sustained success with young blokes threatening to take spots.

Still surprised Collingwood didn't just take 33, 43 and 53.

Geelong got Brisbane's pick 25 by trading 38, 48, 55, F2 and F4. Collingwood could have easily done that with what we gave up for 27 plus a couple of extra picks they had.

My theory is that they were always hedging they could get us to downgrade pick 13 and asked for a pick between 20-25 because they already asked around for those picks and knew it would cost a lot to get in that specific range.

Yeah feels like we won that trade, depending on how much salary the Pies are coughing up, but either way Grundy was a bloody good ruckman. Hoping he can get over his injury issues and give us some quality years ahead. Will be very interested in how we go about playing both he and Gawn though. I'm sure we all have our doubts, but if it comes off then Goody will look like a genius because he's been all in on him since word got out about Dogga. Good to see we stuck to our guns on the pick as well. Called Pies bluff there.

Yes losing depth sucks, but that's what happens when you spend 44 weeks in the top 4. Teams look at your 22-30 players and think "surely they can't be that bad, they're just being kept out by guns". Look how many of these guys Geelong and Hawthorn lost over the 2010s. Didn't see too many of them crying when Billie Smedts

Would it have been nice to get a gun forward? Yes. I wish Gunston had come to us, but its pretty clear he left to link up with Fagan from his Hawks days. There are literally no other gun KPFs available. Dan McStay is the only other established KPF who left his club, and he kicked 5 less goals than the reviled BB this year from 3 more games. Yes, I know he pushes up the ground, but is that what we were looking for?

We clearly need a revised game style to counter good teams, a good draft hand to top up our depth and for some of our young high picks to push into the 22, but isn't that what every club needs if they're going to be successful? Stop with the ****ing pearl clutching and try and remember how good we have it at the moment.
