The timing itself is just horrible.

We are now in limbo with us potentially not having a coach, which would make any player nervous.

The issue at play here could be that these investigations could drag on for months.
Caro said 2 months tonight till the investigations finalized.

Any player coming to us is taking a massive risk.
It’s not hard for Freo or Saints to get in their ear and convince them to stay.
Or Essendon could pounce.

Will Logue, Tucker, Clarke and Hill all get cold feet now
It will depend on the player. Clarko may have been a factor but there could be other factors.

Does Clark really just want to play with LDU and Bonar? That could be a bigger factor than Clarko.

Logue is getting a massive contract and a guaranteed backline spot.

Tucker is probably getting more senior games.

Hill is up in the air. He was being discussed and talking with Jy before Clarko was confirmed.

I would be very shocked if Griff even contemplated backing out and I doubt Clarko was much of a factor at all. He’s an excitable guy, I think he’s probably psyched himself up for the new role, change of scenery and good pay.

Darcy just wants to play senior footy. He’s definitely in, I’m sure of it.
Even if this is just to cheer us up, thank you

I’m pretty confident, but I am also cheering myself up – I anointed North as my second team just before this all happened. Speaking of which, I’m sorry for bringing this curse 😔
Don’t blame yourself.

I blame those muppets that put the cursed it’s happening gif in the clarko thread.

I would be more worried about trade targets if I was hawthorn this year.
Not sure about that, everyone still involved at the Hawks have said they knew nothing.

Look at the wording from Sam Mitchell.

AFL360 lauded the Hawks for their bravery in the report and then focused on Fagan and Clarkson.

SUNS' EARLY PICK UP FOR GRABS

GOLD Coast is set to dangle pick No.7 as the draft sweetener for clubs vying to take on Jack Bowes and the two remaining years on his contract.

Bowes is signed through to the end of 2024 on a heavily back-ended deal, with the former top-10 pick and Suns Academy product open to a move to a new club.

The Suns are also embarking on a proactive reset of their salary cap position and will use their strong draft hand to entice rivals to take on players.

It means clubs such as Hawthorn, St Kilda, Geelong and Essendon, who have all shown interest in Bowes, would also be in line to land the extra draft capital as part of the deal to take the versatile Sun's contract off their books.

AFL.com.au revealed this week that the AFL will approve more aggressive 'salary dumps' as clubs reallocate their cap payments. It is a move that would allow clubs who have salary space to use the money to bolster their draft hands. Money moves are set to become the new normal in the AFL trading landscape as clubs weigh the salary cap price of buying a draft pick.

Gold Coast has gun pair Noah Anderson and Matt Rowell as important re-signing targets next year but will also position itself to be ready to entice key players and free agency options in coming years, with the salary cap moves to create a pay buffer. The Suns are expected to land pick No.5 in this year's draft from Adelaide as part of a deal for exciting goalkicker Izak Rankine.

KANGAS TO WAIT BEFORE FILLING LIST JOBS

NORTH MELBOURNE will wait until after this season's trade and draft period before filling its vacant list management and recruiting roles.

The club has restructured its list management team following the departure of three key recruiting personnel earlier this year and is now set to wait until the summer before identifying and hiring replacements.

Long-time national recruiting boss Mark Finnigan, head of player personnel Glenn Luff and national recruiting officer Ben Birthisel all left the club in May, forcing the Kangaroos to heavily reshape their recruiting team for the remainder of the year.

List boss Brady Rawlings has taken on additional scouting work ahead of the draft alongside veteran recruiter Scott Clayton, while the club has also elevated interstate talent spotters Corry Bewick and Brett Sclanders into expanded positions.

The club expects to retain that list management team throughout the trade and draft period, before filling the vacant roles in the months afterwards.

North Melbourne is facing another pivotal off-season as it continues its list rebuild. As revealed by AFL.com.au, Fremantle pair Darcy Tucker and Griffin Logue have nominated the Roos as their preferred new homes this trade period.

As flagged in Inside Trading last month, the club will also field offers for the first selection at the draft having claimed Jason Horne-Francis with the No.1 pick last season. – Riley Beveridge

Which means the guys we've got lined up are currently contracted.

The Bowes salary dump sounds too good to be true. Is that why North aren’t mentioned in the article? Because we are not allowed to have nice things?

I would imagine we would have more room than any team for a salary dump. Surely we are pursuing this deal? Bowes might not want to come to us, but surely we are one of the clubs interested?

We 100% NEED to be all in on Bowes.
Really good player just hitting his prime and comes with pick 7?? That's crazy.
Imagine pick 1, pick 7 and Harvey in the draft this year alongside 4-5 mature agers.
We're basically winning the offseason at that point

We have to be

Any club that picks up Bowes and his larger contract also gets GC pick 7… I don’t mind him as a player… thought this deal would be perfect for where you guys are placed.
I would be dangling our future first for picks 5 (Crows pick for Rankine),pick 7 and Bowes with some other picks as well.

Geelong and Stkilda are into this Bowes trade. How on earth would Geelong have the cap space? And if we tell the Saints to shove Brad Hill up their arse, how do they have the cap space?

Yeah Geelong will offer pick 18 for Bowes/pick 7 and probably get it done lol

We should offer future first for pick 5/7 Bowes
Then trade pick 7 to one of the dawks/crows/* for their future first

Might be an empty box come draft night this year.

I think you forget/overlooking the enormous impact this might potentially have on JHF....

In fact, it throws another grenade into that entire situation.
Does it? JHF is indigenous with strong family values - perhaps he wouldn't stay if Clarkson did?

I would expect that many of our indigenous players (and staff) may not stay if Clarkson does - the club have a responsibility to create a culturally safe environment for all and that would appear to be almost unachievable now regardless of the outcome of the review.
