So we are in a good position with a full deck.of dp's, can we PLEASE use them.on mids.
Have only been asking since 2012.
And now let’s put Sharman where he belongs. Right next to Max.

A mid seems more of a need right now. Taranto is one of about 5 I would like.

If we were chasing a GCS player I'd be after Mowman's favourite Noah Anderson. He's got his dad on the board for a Saints connection to stop the romantic daydreamers having pissy attacks but he's a freak as well. Will be one of the future guns of AFL IMO. He's only been going for 2 seasons and the least hyped of all their kids. Rowell gets all the love but Noah gets sh*t done.

GC fans recognise Noah's play.
Just needs to start kicking more goals - somewhat unbelievably didn't kick a single goal last year.

Leadership group for a reason.

Passion project: Why prodigal Sun is determined to turn things around

Expecting him to flourish this year.

Josh Dunkley and Bailey Smith should be part of the conversation. They will have recently turned 26 and 22 respectively this time next year.

Happy to see the club offer either a million/year.

Willem Drew out of contract at the end of the year.
So is Dunkley.

No to Dunkley. I’m sorry but if we are going to go after a big fish I’d rather target someone younger to grow with our younger players. Like a Cerra equivalent from last years trading period. Also, Dunkley is a tad injury prone. He’s a great player though, and a good age for a team confidently in their window.

No to Smith. Just doesn’t seem like a good fit. Cant envision him in our colours, ain’t a fan one bit of his off-field persona, can’t see him leaving the dogs. He’s a good player, but for the price tag as well no thanks - would rather keep the draft picks.

I don’t know who is ACTUALLY a possibility, or who the Cerra equivalent is this year, but i am a fan of the Anderson, Butters, (Tom) Green types - just can’t see any obvious trade targets atm who would want to leave their club.

Tarranto is slightly older but would make sense, yet he’s not leaving.

And the reason Ben King was attractive and a talking point was because IF he chose to depart Gold Coast, we were surely in the box seat. To bring gun players in it has to be a possibility they want to come to us first, and atm it doesn’t seem like a possibility with any of these other players mentioned.

If we have a good year, we’ll be a destination club akin to end of 2019/2020. Well-run, good young players, nice culture, going after second flag glory. But who would be up for the move?

Who else should be on the radar I ask?

There would be some synergy to nabbing Drew, he was our Nathan Freeman compensation pick. His body has held him back but he's starting to show why he was considered a slider in that draft, he had a couple of huge possession games last year and played every game.

Honestly not sure that top 10 in their position type players are really realistic.

I have no idea about contract status but I'd be thinking of someone like Xavier Duursma, Dylan Williams, Noah Answerth, Sam Flanders, James Rowbottom, Joel Amartey

Guys who have been in the system for 2-3 years and have lots of potential but haven't quite nailed down a starting spot or their preferred position at their respective clubs. They'd be straight in the team ahead of a Dan Mckenzie and replace the Seb Ross / Brad Crouch type in the next couple of years.

These guys would be 24ish when St Kilda should be in the window for top 4 contention so whilst not household names - I think would be really nice pieces for your club.

Kicked a lot as a junior. I agree, if he was in anyway available you would move heaven and earth.
Yeah - obviously we didn't kick a lot as a team last year - but his finishing on the run from 40+ has been disappointing to date.
I'm sure the extra pre-seasons will keep some strength in his kicking legs further into games.

Hopper or Green from GWS would do then.

I think Smith is an absolute flog but he's going to be something pretty special. He had to sacrifice his game when Treloar arrived but his ceiling is so high I'd take the risk. I think he looks another superstar long term.

Zak Butters would be the one I'd be offering up a big contract too

George is that any chance we can merge this and the other Ben King thread and turn it into a trade discussion thread?

He's probably too much of a forward to be the midfielder we are seeking, but I'd ask the question of Connor Rozee.

He's in a funny sort of spot right now. He's very good but there is a bit of a potential Billings feel about him at the moment. He's kind of an almost awesome type.
