It's pretty standard these days to extend first round draft picks pretty quickly.

So far so good, he was also our best key forward again in our intra club.

So far nothing suggests he won't make it.

At the moment I'm more than happy to put in time and effort developing our own promising key forwards rather than getting hung up over another one and suggesting it's a failure if we don't land him.

I think it will be more of a failure if we can't develop our own.

But nothing to me says he isn't a key forward. You don't have to be 200ecm amd 100kg to play as a 2nd tall.

then again if Gresham and Bytel have a good season they might look at something else.

If we get 4 good midfielders they might go with progressing with the kids we got this year.
Steele / Crouch / Jones ////// Gresham / Bytel / Clark

In saying that either Gresham , Bytel or Clark have to prove they are up to standard and they have a long way to go to prove it.

I reckon Caldwell would have been a good pick up.

They have attempted to find that other star midfielder to go with Merritt - they picked up McGarth from the draft which was a #1 pick , they grabbed Shiel who has not really showed anything great and they will be hoping Caldwell comes good.
Parish would was on the outer the year before last has been awesome and even a fit Stringer has helped bolster there midfield.

Just shows when guys are given a chance they can surprise.
I hope Bytel can do it for us.
