And I must say I'm a little disappointed

Not one of you Kent's even mentioned goat up fwd
At least none of us goats mentioned Kent up fwd

I think we are more likely to get a straight swap for Bergman or Sinn. Bergman more advanced, Sinn has done nothing much at either level and been injured for a lot of the season with a groin but taken the pick straight after Nas. Bergs is more an impact forward, Sinn a HBF.

It's probably likely that Bergman wants home so will take a straight swap. (Pick 14 from the previous draft).

By the way, Port has one of the best media crews. They produce so much content.
No deal, no way.
We have the whip hand here for a contracted player, go full Peter Bell mode.

This is not about being fair.
Bergman (a lesser pick and position we don't need as much as a quality winger) + swap of firsts.

I don't give a sh*te about Rankine or other deals, we have a contracted player that they want, the onus is on them.

Don't bend

Trade for their early 2nd? Likely to have a priority pick in that round too.

They have been told they need to trade any end of first round PP. That for Hill will do, up the deal for DeGoey, up the deal for Amon, take pick 10, pick 20ish pick 30ish to the draft.

It will be interesting to see if the Hill thing has legs.

Rory Laird is the easiest comparison. Was an AA half back averaging about 1 clearance a game, but moved into the midfield the past 2 years and averaged 14.8 and 15.1 contested possessions and 6.9 and 7.6 clearances respectively. Is the 8th highest ranked player in the AFL player ratings.

Sinclair is a year younger and not sure if he has that in him, but I am curious to find out.

Sincs was thrown into the midfield early in the year in the pies game and absolutely crushed it (against the tide).

Ratten is an absolute gump for not having played him in there, especially since gresh went down again and jones has been trash.

We have a million guys who could play halfback while also being desperate for gun midfielders.

Thought it was worth a go Friday night we had nothing to lose

Been in the best 2-3 half backs in the competition this year.

Hardly been the incorrect call to play him in a positive he thrives in. Especially considering he is the only way we can move the ball from defensive 50 most games.

Also i dont think our forward line is devoid of talent, it gets trash supply and has a busted structure.

Precisely.
So why advocate for overpaying to bring over a bgrader like zurhar when we should be spending salary cap on guys who will give our existing fwds better delivery?

Unless you are advocating we bring zurhar in so he can literally manhandle rath and ratts out of morrabbin, therefore fixing our structure and gameplan problems?

If it's the latter- im all for it.

As per a previous comment, would we have a crack at playing JB down back ?.

Has very neat disposal and can regularly hit a target 20 metres away.

Reasonable in the air and on the ground, getting led to the ball might actually suit him.

It would be worth trying over preseason. Also a very good mark for his size so might be able to help with some intercepting back there.

Again- we have a million guys well suited to playing attacking halfback if given the opportunity.

We wouldn't lose much off half back swapping sincs for jones or webster or lienert etc.

Anything we did lose off halfback would be dwarfed by the improvement in our midfield with sinclair in the centre.

He showed us and himself that he can be a gun mid earlier this year- it's been incredibly poor and stubborn coaching from ratten to not keep him in there after demonstrating he belongs as a gun mid.

Gun halfbacks dont win games or flags, or brownlows... gun mids do

We have a living, breathing demonstration of St Kilda development v Sydney development and there are still people who are like "Sydney draft so well".

It doesn't matter who they draft. They coach 'em up.

Also, shows it can be done.
Very well put Punter. The good teams have very good player development, that others simply don’t see the importance and spend their $$$ elsewhere or don’t spend it all.

Can't win a 1 on 1 to save his life, barely an upgrade on having hill back there.

We have a lot of inferior half backs to Sinclair. You're under estimating how elite Sinclair has been to think any of those players could match what he has been doing this year.

I don't think it is stubborn or poor coaching at all to keep your best performing player in the position he is playing the best football of his career in.

Specially if Clarkson doesn’t land up going there….which is looking increasingly less likely now the Bombers will be on the market.

They have been told they need to trade any end of first round PP. That for Hill will do, up the deal for DeGoey, up the deal for Amon, take pick 10, pick 20ish pick 30ish to the draft.
Still not sure why they would qualify for a PP actually.
Only two years at the bottom off the back of their own stupidity.

Jesus, no-one turns gold into a turd like St Kilda. Cashing in our star recruit three years later for a handful of dirt. I hope who ever approved that trade and the Hanners one gets the shove then.

Or Zac Jones who was literally that player at Sydney. And see if Jake Lloyd wants out as a FA. Set for a few more years as a kid develops.

I hope we keep Jones the bloke has had a hard year and mental health issues, hopefully we support him and give him another year
Put him back to HBF rotating with Sincs through the middle

I do like how the pies have been rotating daicos and pendles from HBF to the middle when they need that extra spark.

It all starts in the middle.
