To be absolutely fair, Clark, Long and our second for pick 5 would be plenty tempting.

Gold Coast didn't have many list spots to trade in players last season (which is why they lost Greenwood). I wonder if they have the same problem this off-season.
If we were going to throw picks to GC they would have to be futures.

They are already loaded up on pick for this year and you can almost bet that Bris will pick swap their 13 for points for Ashcroft.

Long + Clark + Future 1st
#5 + #13 + Future 3rd

Selling off Gresham is just another completely insane decision...... I can see it happening for sure. We are back to trading out players and back to the draft.....so starting the whole thing again. We really really need a broom through the club. We just continually reward terrible decision makers with promotion and they bring in more terrible decision makers under them.
When did we sell off Gresham?

Is it that hard to wait for something to actually occur instead of criticising people for things they haven't done.

So many people want Top Picks or A Grade stars and then have conniptions when names are floated as possible trade currency.

We either stay with the same list and same draft hand

OR

We float names around and see if we get overs. And possibly strengthen a draft hand to get some high-end talent in.

There would only be a very select few that wouldn't be tradeable.

The whole Clark thing relies on whether the deal would be even good enough.

Same with Hill.

Same with Nas.

Only Bytel, Long and Byrnes that we don't really have a lot of control over.

Don’t tell me what I didn’t say. Go have a look.

What’s the point in trading players for nothing picks? It has to be beneficial both ways.
Sorry i didn't even see that post about Long , Who is trading for nothing picks ? I'm saying Clark wont get a top 10 pick so he stays unless he really wants out

Stop trying to name marque players as who we should target. We aren't a destination club. They aren't coming unless we offer massive contracts.

Look at specific players that are finding it hard to crack best 22 because that position is stacked in that team. Someone like Highmore for us in another team (I think we should actually trade Highmore as he wasn't great in seniors this year).

The club is 100% going to make another play for Ben King in 2 years time, so scratch the idea of trading out this years and next years 1st rounders as it'll be needed. We'd likely try and pay stupid overs like we did with Fremantle and Hill.

We literally drafted Nas last year at pick 11, if we trade him for a similar pick we wasted a year of development that could have gone into another player. There is no two ways about it. And the coniptions about Hill is that we likely get sweet f all for him after paying superstar value for him ourselves. And trading Clark is only worth it if we get a top 10 pick, and even then it might not be worth it.

I reckon there's about 10-15 players on our list I wouldn't want to entertain trading and somehow we've hit 2-3 of them already (Nas, Clark, Long) and it's not even trade period yet.

So you give away Hill, Long, 28, 46 for pick 10? Dumb
On the surface I would tend to agree, but when you look into it.....

Long - OOC and could/would walk to the PSD
Hill - Huge money, inconsistent and realistically won't be around when we are a genuine challenger

We need to get elite talent onto our list and have them firing in about 3-4 years time. It's time to hit the draft now and get that elite talent so that when King is 26ish and the best KPF in the league, we have elite talent around him.

We could keep 15 & 19 and head to the draft with 9, 15 & 19, which looks a better hand (and better value for what we trade out), but history tells us that the higher the pick, the greater the liklihood off it being a success.

Every year... we have the same conversation... who can we sell off ... who can we sell off.

This is just going around in circles and never ever gets us anywhere. We are in the same situation as we were 5 years ago.

Acres - sold off
Bruce - sold off
Newness - sold off
Hind - sold off
Stanley - sold off
Hickey - sold off

Then a BOOM a Hail Mary offer to Hannebery... Hill... Jones or whoever is available at the time

if we trade any of our young talent for late picks, over the hill mercenaries or messiahs. Then Basset needs to take a good hard look at the recruitment department.

Again Nas is contracted. Any chance of him going would be totally reliant on whether the proposed trade is good enough.

Clark is contracted. Media have already said the club and he are happy to continue next year. If a fantastic offer presented we and he would be crazy not to entertain it.

Long is out of contract of course clubs will do their due diligence and enquire. We would do the same with other players.

Just because someone is named doesn't mean anything will happen.

It's media filler because there is only 2 games this week.

newnes was delisted

Stanley and Hind were the right decisions

Two years ago Ratts said Clark would move into the elite bracket.

Prior to the season starting our Captain said that Clark was going to be our superstar and was doing insane things on the track.

IMO - not even for a first rounder... stick by your words St Kilda... don't f&&king sway with the wind.

No I’d be happy enough to trade Gresham for the right haul.

Yes but things change.

The injuries he has gotten has changed that a bit. Does it mean he cant be elite? No.

But it can impact. Can we see him as a midfield bull? Can he be more than a HBF? Which we have an overabundance of?

I’m backing Clark over just about anyone else on our list, he has star quality imo.

GC look like having 5, 7, 25, 32, 33, etc

Not that long ago GC gave up pick 2 for Lachie Weller... which Freo turned in Andy Brayshaw...and they're now absolutely desperate to play finals.

I love Hunts but if he's not going to be a full time, A grade mid then I'd be all over bringing in a kid who has the trajectory to be.
Pick 7 for Hunts then.

We pick up McKenzie and Humphrey in the Draft.

Yes, things change... He got hammered by committing to the ball... which many of our current players don't do

On the trade table for me are:

Higgins
Butler
Howard
Membrey

Players like Gresh, Clark should be non-negotiables

Long + Clark + Future 1st
#5 + #13 + Future 3rd
5 + 7 + 25 + 33

long + Clark + future 1st

Clark is worth 5 our future first will most likely be top 10 in a draft recruiters already love so 7 is like for like Plus we need some sugar for trading out of next years so 33. Long is worth 25 alone so that’s about right otherwise jog on.

Bizarre is the using clubs media channels to promote the size of Jack Sinclair's mullet. Don't they have anything else to do... like football related.

Next you'll be telling me that it is a great idea to sell home games to Cairns, Alice Springs or whoever wants it.

Wow that’s a stretch.

You’re whining about the club actually providing some insight & having a bit of fun… and then correlate that to selling games???

Bizarre isn’t the right word for those mental gymnastics.
