Jesus. I need medication to get through the trade and draft periods. It’s seriously traumatic. Like giving $5000 to an alcoholic gambling addict. You just hope they don’t hurt themselves too much.

You know somethings wrong when you approach the trade period every year with a feeling of dread. I spend the whole time just hoping we don’t do something really stupid just wanting to get through without too much damage. What should happen is as supporters we‘re pumped and looking forward to improving the side, doesn’t happen with the saints.

Somehow I hope it all goes pear shaped for them but if I was a lions fan I’d be over the moon right now.

We have quite a few support players who would do well in strong teams with A grade midfields especially. Our current midfield will not get us into a GF in the near future and some pretty hard decisions need to be made. We need to build a new midfield and start now, otherwise we will be occupying the middle rung on the ladder for years to come.

St Kilda has also been linked as a possibility for Phillips, but it would likely depend on if anything happened with Bradley Hill. Hill, who has two years to run on his contract, has been linked as an option for North Melbourne but there have been no trade talks between the Saints and Hill.
