Disappointing that players contracted are telling their managers to see if any clubs are keen.. We're fast becoming the club players want to leave & can't attract a quality player other than a delisted one..

Someone posted that Long wasn't happy with the game plan on here after meeting his family. A top player told a poster that the players were "confused" by the game plan last year. People hate Dunstan but he's left the club really angry, it's not pointing to a well run operation.

We don't have that feel like a club about to rise and the growth feels limited. If you've got an incredible coach or amazing players that they love playing along side it makes it a much more attractive environment.

It can all change pretty quickly but no one's going to do it for them.

IF, and I say IF Long is getting offered 4x$500k then we can ask Gold Coast for more than an early second round pick because they clearly rate him higher than a second round pick.

Salary is only equivalent to draft picks in free agency. Carlton gave up 2 seconds for Mitch McGovern and they were offering him 800k a year

Would rather see growth and development of our under 23s than an 7th-10th finish led by our mediocre c graders

To me the best 22 is pretty solid but underperforming. The kids need to keep coming in and developing but changing players to bring in kids won't be a magic bullet either.

The Pies are certain to land GWS running half forward Bobby Hill and, despite some interest from St Kilda, Billy Frampton is expected to move from Adelaide to Collingwood.

Ben long also getting a 4 year deal from the suns.

IF they deem he is worthy of a 4 year deal, then surely they can also give up a 2nd round pick!

Sam Edmund has been saying this week that the club is in the dark about whether Hill wants a trade or not - he hasn't approached us yet about one - and that we intend for him to be at the club next year. But his sources are saying that Hill wants to be traded.

Cal Twomey also said today there has been no trade discussions yet between the club and Hill.

Shattered about Longy.
He was my favourite player.
Under no illusions that he was in our top 10 or even probably 20 players, because he just never managed to find the pill enough (until his last game), that and giving away 50s.
But I just enjoyed his attack on the ball and man.

Worries me letting him go when we are already a soft side and then we are chasing like Bobby hill.

Butler was always a statistically better tackler than Long but I wonder if Long had less tackles when playing forward because the oppo would just get rid of it like a hot potato if he was within 10 metres. Where they just fend off butler half the time.

How the game has changed. In the 80s the salaries were so low and yet we still couldn't afford to pay our players, but they stayed with the club for peanuts. Didn't some even donate prizes to the club to auction off?

Today, players earn more than ever, but won't look twice at a lower offer and quick out the door. That's the way the AFL wanted it.

Club saying that to max his value but it sounds like they are also planning what pick would be acceptable at the same time. There is ruling it out and ruling it out. Are you saying that Hill is 100% untouchable? Stav is happily imagining the trade so he's either inconsistent or trying to push his value.
