They aren't but both handled messily IMO. Dunstan was let known was out. Looks like Matt Crouch at Adelaide. You can't see why they handled it so badly and publicly.

Hill is a strange one, the club seem pretty happy to lose him but are at least putting on an act this time. We are going to feel the loss of Hill despite what people on here say. He's definitely not a bad player and he provides a heap of our run in a pretty static side.

Coffield or Connolly is going to have to come on quickly.
Dunstan was messy from both parties.

What is messy about Hill from our perspective? There has been nothing from the club saying we are happy to lose him. The only commentary has been the club telling Sam Edmund that he hasn't asked for a trade and we have no intention of losing him. Any of the early speculation from the media that Hill was on the outer seems to have completely disappeared.

Another example of the double dip. The AFL has to ban selling off your highest pick to take FS and interstate academy kids. Bulldogs got to trade for Treloar and get pick one quality with a bunch of rubbish.

Sydney pioneered it. The Lions get Ashcroft, Fletcher and now Dunks from one draft. Just not fair on sides below them. It's like winning the lottery getting a gun FS now.

Which is why the father-son and the academies should be abolished, and North Melbourne should be measuring up Will Ashcroft for blue and white stripes right about now.

Dont worry they will get rid of it when Rooey's sons come through

6 years plus a first rounder (and more likely?) for a guy like dunkley is well overs.

Nice player- and the 700-750 isn't too bad given the cap will rise and inflate some of it away.

But that's sooo many years on top coin for a guy who isn't all that amazing and will be 26 before rnd 1.

He’s a very good player and about right IMO. He’s like what we have though so not upset that we didn’t chase him.

Probably more on here so perhaps I overreacted on that one. The club has kept tight lipped on it.

One of Weiderman, Schache, McLean, Amarty or Ratugolea are probably the types we need to be looking at.

NO idea if any are gettable or if any will be the answer to our problem.
Totally agree. Marshall has shown he is a very good main ruckman, and Campbell should get another contract as depth. If we can pick up a tall forward who can chop out in the ruck it would be perfect.

Obviously we have Hayes returning, but it would be great to have some more key forward options.

I have it was the biggest hole on the list we need to fill this off season. Without adding another option, it leaves us way too thin for next season.

Oh well, this guy's still available ......

Player #39 - Zaine Cordy
AA11tVwv.img

Pictured: Zaine's Mad Monday 'issues' were really an elaborate ruse to show the world Libba's amazing T shirt

Nickname: Punchy

Zaine Cordy is a member of the 2016 Grand Final team and a former FS pick. His brother Ayce was also a FS pick, and apparently their parents named the kids by writing down the on-screen sound effects from 1960s Batman episodes. His sister Bork and little brother Yoink never showed much interest in football.

In just his 11th game of football, Zaine laid a huge tackle and kicked a goal from the boundary line to open the scoring on that wonderful day. That tackle resulted in a free kick, one of the few the Bulldogs would earn that day,
That represented the highlight of his career as he made his name as a hard-nosed but slowish and slightly undersized swingman in subsequent years, in that he swings between AFL & VFL football.

This year Zaine was in and out of the side so often his teammates called him 'Hokey Pokey'. Managing 14 games as injuries left first choice defenders (such as literally anybody) on the sidelines, Zaine soon showed how elite he was at standing the mark after his opponent earned a shot on goal. Averaging under 8 disposals per game, he rebounds about as well as Taylor Swift and took less Marks than Mia Khalifa. He has a terrible kicking action that is strangely effective and is surprisingly accurate on those rare occasions he gets a shot on goal.

Zaine also pinch hits in the ruck, like almost everyone else at the Bulldogs. Why Bevo's approach to ruckwork is more 'make a wish foundation' then 'let a tall guy do it' we will never know. It's one of those mysteries of the football world, like why if you can't change a car tyre would you tell the Bay about it. So mysterious.

Anyway Zaine is not contracted for next year so who knows where he'll end up. If it's anything like Mad Monday, that answer is 'in the back of an Uber trying desperately not to lose himself $50'.

Zaine, good luck next year. Welcome to the Bottom 50 for 2022.

That's not bad at all for Brisbane, so long as the actual trade cost isn't too high. He'd come straight in for THE BAROMETER you'd reckon. Rayner, Neale, Zorko. They've got a few short asses in there, they could use bigger guy running through the middle.
And they get the best kid in the draft

I like the Father/Son thing.
Imagine if Roo's kids came through the system and had to play for another team.

It just needs to be made so that they aren't getting a free pick, which is what the points based system is doing.

Example Solution.
Player is bid on during round one. You need to give up your naturally occurring next pick, or a future round 1 pick.

If you managed to trade away both of those picks ( you would have known the player's status by trade week ), then bad luck, the bidder gets him.

....degoeys management could have verbally said he's not going anywhere but we'd like to wait until finals are done before we put pen to paper.

Why would they wait? Picking up a pen and signing documents for 15 minutes is going to disrupt his preparations?

Maybe his management are waiting to see if he'd break his leg in the prelim so they could drop the amount for Collingwood as well.

Just out of interest- how many father son / academy players and who do Sydney have in their Grand Final side ?
Heeney (2014), Mills (2015), Blakey (2018), Campbell (2020) and Gulden (2020)

The first 3 would be in out top 6 players.

Mate you are the biggest chihuahua on this board.

You cry about everything and somehow always bring it back to something irrelevant years ago.

If he went out and got caught doing nose beers, this would be you.

accusing season 7 GIF

Completely ignoring the fact that most players do it. Infact I remember going out in my early 20s and seeing Baker Dawson and eddy doing lines at the club we were at. But you would have still happily licked their balls at the time because the saints were successful.

Instead of crying about pieces of information. Let the trade period play out and then you might have an idea what the future will look like.

Because right now you are doing a great job of jumping at shadows and working yourself up without getting the entire picture.
Chihuahua [emoji23][emoji23] love that.

Just to further this argument.

Sydney say they train upwards of 800 kids in there academy and it costs them $1mill to run annually.

So it would be effectively us calling the Sandy Dragons our academy as they are the Bayside development pathway.

So, it would have enabled us first hand access too:
Josh Kelly
Christian Salem
Zach Merrett
Angus brayshaw
Brayden Maynard
Tim Taranto
Andrew McGrath
Ollie Florent
Andrew Brayshaw
Ben King
Bailey smith
Josh sinn
Finn Callaghan
Campbell Chesser

+ more.

We would effectively be a powerhouse.

Weirdman or whatever his name is is good mates with Battle. Maybe that might help. But I agree we need one of those. The only ones I would want would be Weirdman, McClean or Amartey. Probably in the opposite order than I just listed them.

On a side note, How about Libba rocking the late 90's Toyota Camry T-shirt. He is an interesting unit
