Nearly means that they need to offload Pick 1 in the hope of getting collateral. They have too many players they are after.
Otherwise they will need to go PSD for Logue and then say sorry to a number of potential players.
Logue for a future 2nd
Hill for a future 2nd
Tucker for a future 3rd
Take a fringe player in the PSD

Can't see how they get Clark though without splitting either this year's or next years first

McRae's presser immediately after the game - he said he's going to be talking to De Goey's manager asap to get the deal done - he is a required player.
It obviously was not done by Saturday evening.
McRae said he didn’t know were things were with Degoey
I find that hard to believe

Geez if that is the case with Marshall let's hope they can sort it out since he just signed a five year deal! [emoji15]

Sorry, I meant that Marshall is definitely the man to carry our ruck department, I just feel like he has been playing through pain this year and hasn’t been at his very best.

But that’s from a know nothing nuffie. Don’t take my word for anything on here.

That's the only thing that makes me wonder if it wasn't such a slam dunk. Surely he'd have an idea? Even if it was just an in principle agreement?

The comments about it on Saturday just seemed a touch off.

Wishful thinking on my behalf no doubt.

Has it been said anywhere if they are tied to North's finishing position, or are they 'start of round' picks?
Nah just this I believe.

The AFL has handed the Kangaroos a 2023 second and 2023 third round pick that must be traded to another club or clubs, for at least one player, under a draft assistance package aimed at making North Melbourne more competitive quickly.

I like the Father/Son thing.
Imagine if Roo's kids came through the system and had to play for another team.

It just needs to be made so that they aren't getting a free pick, which is what the points based system is doing.

Example Solution.
Player is bid on during round one. You need to give up your naturally occurring next pick, or a future round 1 pick.

If you managed to trade away both of those picks ( you would have known the player's status by trade week ), then bad luck, the bidder gets him.

If one if Nick Riewoldt's sons is the best player available in a draft, then the team with the worst record the season previous should have unfettered access to him. Otherwise there is little point in the draft as an equalisation measure. I'd rather see a fairer system than one based on mere sentimentality which prevents clubs from being able to compete.

Pick 1 2022 - going to a prelim team
Pick 3 2021 - went to a grand final team
Pick 1 2020 - went to a finals team
Joe Daniher and Tom Hawkins consensus best players in their drafts - went to finals teams rather than bottom team.

Worst record - best pick - no strings

This is the way it should be.

They seem to think Logue though the PSD which is fair enough. That opens things up for them nicely, but I still think we'd be stupid to ditch Hunter for less than a FRDP.

Yeah makes no difference to a Clark deal as they won't be getting him a future 2nd you wouldn't imagine

How would scrutiny into JDG's private life not be a problem for him if he was a Saints player?

The media miss the St Kilda scandals, they wouldn't hesitate to try to convince the world he's ****ing up a lot more since he joined us either.

Plus you know our club would be ultra paranoid about him screwing up and making us look bad again, so he'd have internal pressure too.

Much as it pains me to agree with Gerard "Weasel" Wheatley's nasty comparative dig at us in his opinion about this matter, I do also think Collingwood is the best place for him.

I think it's the best way to do it to be honest

18 year old Kids aren't going to help them next year

Gives them something to trade some mature players in with
Really don't think it's the best way to help a club like North for a few reasons.

1. They're limited to a small pool of talent - players that are willing to go to North, and would be gettable for a future 2nd or future 3rd.... there aren't going to be many players in that pool that will help North significantly long term.
2. They have to be traded, gives the club no leverage. They will have to pay overs now.

If I were a North fan, I'd be asking why they even bothered to offer the "assistance" in the first place.

Go check out their “ITK” talking about them getting a top 5 pick on Friday.

Glorious 😂
The end of his post in their draft assistance thread might be the funniest thing I've seen on this site for a while.

Think my source gets a clip for this - but you can’t be right all the time. But I was right on Clarko Zurhaar and Scott so I’ve still got some credits.😊

Pwease still like me guys pweaseeeee

Who cares where the best place is for him is ?

Why would they wait? Picking up a pen and signing documents for 15 minutes is going to disrupt his preparations?

Maybe his management are waiting to see if he'd break his leg in the prelim so they could drop the amount for Collingwood as well.

youre right i think its more than likely the pies agreed to terms verbally (i.e. match our offer) but wanted to put pen to paper at season end

With Dunkley, Ashcroft and a lesser extent Fletcher joining Brisbane this off season, do they have anyone being pushed down the pecking order who we could be interested in?

Deven Robertson is getting shoved by the sound of it. Probably Eli Smith delisted as well.
