This is what I don't understand. I get that De Goey may have "agreed in principle" but he hasn't signed. Why not sign it yet?

Buddy has signed and swans have announced it already....

Degoey wasn’t doing anything with his contract until after the season. What makes you think he’d sign anything midway through mad Monday?

King, Higgins, Steele, Sinclair, Hayes has also nearly done it.
Windhager has the attributes to as well.

We have a few

King needs to ball come to him, Steele not so much, Sinclair can’t win a game off half back, maybe Hayes to soon we have only seen him play 5 games and Windy is dominating as a tagger.

Higgins prob could be closest but he has not yet proven he can win a game from his own boot.

More so Degoey plays mid on and around stoppages and forward. He finds his own ball powers through tackles and when beast mode is on he can win a game off his own. It’s the X factor we have been on about all year and we finally have an opportunity to get it but don’t want to part with another 150-200k

How would scrutiny into JDG's private life not be a problem for him if he was a Saints player?

The media miss the St Kilda scandals, they wouldn't hesitate to try to convince the world he's ******* up a lot more since he joined us either.

Plus you know our club would be ultra paranoid about him screwing up and making us look bad again, so he'd have internal pressure too.

Much as it pains me to agree with Gerard "Weasel" Wheatley's nasty comparative dig at us in his opinion about this matter, I do also think Collingwood is the best place for him.

On the other hand how good would it be for the club to get him into the club and through the Danny Frawley centre.

Yeah it is a bit odd. The more it keeps going on the more interesting it gets. Maybe there’s another club behind the scenes that have made a play for him?

Can't see any of that happening unfortunately

Giants won't be trading down from 3. They love their high picks.

Can't see them including Callaghan in any trade either
3 to 9 might interest them is they are after a KPD in Jedd Busslinger

Buddy just announce signing just before GF!

Agree, but try asking your non St Kilda mates what you think he would get in a trade and see what they say. Or send a tweet to someone in the media or industry.

If anyone replies that they think he will get us a pick inside the top 7 or so I'd be shocked.

I think that's the best way to gauge his value rather than just looking at it through our red white and black goggles.

I'm Clark's biggest fan but other than the fact that he's contracted, we have him available while his probably at his lowest value since joining the club.
I agree.
I reckon he would be viewed as similar value to Jordan Clark who was drafted at 15 and traded for 22 and future third.

I think most outside the saints would say top 15 is about right.

He is worth much more to us by keeping him that what we will get in a trade unless we absolutely manage to bend someone over a barrel.

If he is traded, I think it's because of this.

Doubts he will can transition into a midfielder with the 18 year old already viewed as in front of him in the pecking order and this is the chance to cash in before he is just a half back flanker.

He's also had a some reoccurring groin issues - maybe something we are concerned about?

I think the lack of young stars has got them spooked myself. Gambling on finding another King by selling the ones that might good but unlikely to be stars. God I hope that we keep Nas and Owens and Windy aren't flash in the pans.

If Clark ends up a star at another club I reckon my head might explode.

Nas is gone after this contract.

Clark will surely star for another club.

What people are saying is true, he is worth about 15 on the market so if that is the offer we just have to keep him.

Otherwise yours won't be the only head exploding.

He probably will be good at another club. But we will also likely be fine without him too.

Good post and will be around the 10th - 12th spot at best for a little while

If we play three kids from last year and guys like Coops and the new kids we bring in it's going to be a pretty inexperienced line up. It really relies on the guys like Snags, Coffield, King etc all progressing. If they have a down year or stall we could easily stay still or drop away. I reckon we could still play finals just but everything would have to go right which isn't something we ever seem to get.

I think we stay around where we are at best
Also don’t think we should be relying on the 3 kids for the improvement it’s not fair on them

At least when Jordy re signs with the Magpoies we’ll all be able to say well thank **** for that we didn’t want him anyway he has too much baggage.
In the meantime fingers x’d.
