“I think Meek is most likely to head to GWS where he’s going to jump from about $300,000 a year to about $600,000 a year and get a three or four year deal,” he said.

“GWS is the most likely, but Gold Coast, North Melbourne, Richmond, St Kilda and Geelong are all showing interest in Meek.

Pass.
Havent GWS come out and said they aren't interested in another ruck with Preuess, Briggs and Flynn all signed?

Seriously I’m so sick of this narrative, rumours and rubbish imo. I wonder sometimes about the lack of understanding around contact sports including the afl.

Do we really need to question this kids lifestyle or commitment when the obvious reason for his last two years is so blatantly obvious. I know it’s an opinion game but enough is enough.

Reminds me of thommo asking Hutchison if he’d ever been belted like Travis Cloke was, ‘ serves as a wake up call to stop coasting ‘.
I don't think what I'm suggesting is any different to what Stav is saying and I'm just trying to figure out why we would want to get rid of him. Suggestion is that they might not think he has the drive to get the best out of himself which sounds like why we might be willing to offload him.

There has to be a reason we'd be willing to offload a pick seven who has had injury interruptions. He's still young so the idea that it's because we are abandoning our rebuild is ludicrous to me.

So why did Collingwood offer him the contract at the start of the season, pull the contract at the bye, present it again before seasons end, and then according to a journalist update the terms of it?
Obviously they're not as aware of JDGs plans as people on here.
Every team does it for a player they deem as required. If you’re entering round 23 without a contract on the table, you’ll have your manager making deals with other teams.

Rumour on the North Board (take it with a grain of salt), Clark gets traded for a swap of Future 1sts.

Would do if that Draft is as strong as they say. NM likely to finish bottom 2.
North have some talent, will be bringing in more and they have clarko. I’m not taking the risk we suffer a couple of injuries drop a few spots and they improve to 14 -12.

LOL. We could end up swapping pick 6 for pick 2. And lose Clark. You'd need to be high to think that's a great idea.

That would be a massive risk. Would need something else thrown in I think.

I just want to make something clear about what I heard seeing as my name is getting brought up and a few locals are wearing their togas this morning and still not ready for work.

Within the hours of his full time job. I don’t believe there to be an issue with Clark. Works hard whilst at the club, does his sessions etc.

The query to my understanding - is does he have the drive to achieve his potential.

The examples given to me were of 4-5 similar players in terms of caliber and what they have done to try and get to that next level. All the examples focused on what those players did away from the club.

Coffield hired a running coach and was genuinely looking like a footballer about to break out. Dominating match sims like Luke Hodge across half back. Looking like a leader etc.

King I believe also used this running coach. Spent more time in the gym outside of his required sessions. Got fitter. Effectively broke out to a degree. Kicked 50 goals.

Windhager I am told. Lived at the club on his days off and just did extra sessions. Just put the work in. His reward…

Well, he wasn’t expecting to see a football field for most if not all of the year. You know how it plays out.

Owens is apparently a physical freak and did a mountain of general work. Running weights etc.

Owens is important, as Clark was training with Steele. But Owens was the one who caught Steele’s attention. Just super impressed with his work ethic.

Now, maybe there is an element of - let’s hit the draft, Clark is probably the odd man out if we jag another top level genuine mid etc. good currency still etc.

Maybe, it’s to light a fire up his ass to not let the opportunity slip. To seize the moment that success is earned and not a given.

That is me assuming. But what I do know, because it was confirmed to me by someone who would know and unlike others - I’ve told those I trust talking to where my info comes from.

He is a legitimately gettable target - for the right offer.

I have heard sweet * all about drugs. Women. Partying. Boy bands. Or any other nonsense.
The podcast with steel on Dyl and friends he mentioned Clark as the one to break out this year..

It seems that Melbourne have got space to fit in Brodie Grundy's salary - so no De Goey for the Saints.

Could the Saints use Hunter / Hill and 12 to chase pick 1 from North?

Reality is Hill is more of a salary dump and list reset than trading for a top pick.

Pick 1 might need all three.

Is Wardlaw / Sheezel / Cadman worth that?

Don't think pick one is attainable. Our best bet is North Split their first and give us pick 13 and there future second with us paying a part of Hills wage. Or our second to get Norths first split pick. That looks worse though.

We could then trade our second rounders for another mid first round pick this year.

Can't see how we do better if both Hill and Clark are both outgoing.

Way too risky. North have a good young midfield with Cunnington coming back and now with Clarko coaching them so you know they’re going to be better defensively as well. There’s a decent chance they could fly right past us.

No such thing as rumours at this time of year because it's all negotiation. Even if the poster is on the money that North will propose that, he can't know what the Saints will accept. No point even paying attention to rumours about the price of trades.

Explain to me how we lose Hanna's, Geary, Ryder and Kent to retirement, and can offer DeGoey $800k over 4 years but Hill is a salary dump.

Best case scenario we get around pick 20 for Hill and that would be paying 200k of his salary. If it is a complete Salary dump we would get a pick in the third.
Great model for a reset of the list, a third rounder and 1.7 mill in the cap we haven't got a use for.

Head injuries especially bad ones can take a while to get over, the kid has had a rotten run the last two years and was reportedly from a good source having a very good preseason. We might have just decided he’s very talented but turning 24 and without being a lock for any position he’s the best choice to get the pick we need for something else.

I wouldn’t trade him but you could make the case to. I’m just not sure we need to look past his obvious injury issues over the last two years, I’d say the same thing if coffield was on the block. Coffield has looked terrible then almost AA then a knee. The more I think about the last couple of years the more I think a bit of luck would be nice.

Gresham, Patton, coffield and Clark, not a bad quartet to have lost long stretches to injury.

I come in peace,
I’m not going to comment on the value of the trade, apart from the fact the death riding a team is actually fun..
It adds a whole other dimension to watching rival team games, as you’ve actually got skin in it.
You guys would be cheering on every loss that North has, and if we have another season like we had the schadenfreude would be fantastic for you lot.

For that reason and that reason alone, I hope we do a trade like that.
Entertainment value

Things change so quickly that what was true yesterday has completely hanged by today. Case in point Dunkley to Brisbane, port and the bulldogs now move on to other targets and Brisbane have a completely different pick scenario. How many teams might have been eyeing that Brisbane pick and on and on it goes.

2 calls to SEN saying Jason Horne-Francis will request a trade to the Saints. Gerry said it so it must be true.

Same manager as NWM from SA, but if you watched that Stan documentary from last Trade Period, it felt like there was this undertone that they’d all come back SA sooner rather than later…
