Feel sorry for the Roos. It’s been one thing after the other for them in the last 5 years and just when they were seeming to right their ship, they have the wind taken out of their sails again.

And yet quite a few on here (no names, cough cough) wanted us to jump on Clarkson.

It’s often said that something is “typically St Kilda”.

However there could be no more “typically St Kilda” than to sack Ratts and pay him out, hire Clarkson for 5 years at ridiculous dollars only to be looking around for a new coach several weeks later.

As we were leading in the final 6 weeks of the year he pulled us aside as a group and told us to keep our partners and our families out for the next period because they make us ‘soft’. I thought it was a pretty poor comment at the time, but it definitely highlights the influence Clarkson had on his players, and the messages he sent.

I get that part of the concept - don't condone it but see why men charged with creating a warrior team might try this - but abortions? Too far. Way too far. And why just indigenous players?

I get the concept but it’s backwards and shortsighted. Richmond have created a family first culture that’s bred success, and made every player on the list feel valued.
Asking players to alienate their families can’t have a positive outcome

I will hold my tongue until this has played out. It seems impossible...I can't fathom how it can possibly be real in this day and age. If true it isn't just damning for Hawthorn and those involved, but for the AFL itself.

I've explained it many times now.

We've told clubs he's available. Unless the people running the show are completely stupid we would have to no that no club is offering pick 6 for him.

So if we know that clubs won't value him that high, why would we be telling them he's available??

I'm sure we know exactly what clubs will be willing to pay for him and we will be happy to accept it, otherwise we wouldn't be dangling the carrot

If he goes for chips many it will be yet another nail in what is a very nail ridden coffin

Devil’s Advocate: Do we know it was just indigenous players who received this “advice”?

The review was about indigenous players and indigenous players were interviewed and they told their stories.

Doesn’t mean similar “advice” was not handed out to all players who managed to slip one past the net.

This is a great opportunity for the afl to show whether they have real morals or just pay lip service. If they have real morals they’ll strip Hawthorn of their premierships gained under Clarko.
