Even if we trade Clark.

I want that Nick Haynes deal.

I think he could be of value to us and he is very good in a role we are terrible at (high ball interceptor)

If it comes with 15. Hell yes.
The cap can handle 2 years at that price especially if we were at that or a bit more for DeGoey

Luckily we didn’t bring in another defender then. We’ll have the best collection of third tall backs in footy.

I find the treatment of Jack Bytel staggering.

Surely if we develop him, he's the kind of player we need at the right age profile - it seems like we've already decided he's not gonna be good enough, but on what basis? A handful of VFL games?

Surely he's worth try and we already have him on our books on minimum wage.

It doesn't make any sense.
100% we need to develop our players much better
They seem to be played out of their natural position and too much focus on what they are not doing rather than what they are doing.
He looked out of confidence at Sandy and just started in 2021 looking like he knew he belonged in the afl

I think that is the best we could expect.

Not sure I'd take it and run though. Unless there us something very toxic about Clark we don't know about.

Chances of finding a better prospect at 13 is slim IMO. Better off seeing what he can do when he actually has a good run with injury ie 2020
If we have any doubts about him being able to move into the midfield next year, it's a deal we would have to take.

North Melbourne will strongly consider splitting one of its top-two selections for multiple picks or players if it can secure a trade for Jason Horne-Francis for pick two.
And the move could bring St Kilda hard nut Hunter Clark back into the Roos’ frame late in the trade period next week despite the Saints’ desire to keep him.

St Kilda has said it wants to hold on to Clark, 23, but are considering ways to bring in another early draft pick after missing out on the signature of Collingwood’s Jordan De Goey.

There is a left-field option to make a play for high-priced defender Nick Haynes from GWS Giants if the salary dump also comes attached with a first-round draft pick.

Haynes is up for grabs if a new club covers his $800,000-plus price tag but there had not been any big moves for him over the first week of the trade period.

Hunter Clark is still of interest to North Melbourne.

The Kangaroos are working hard to secure a trade for Horne-Francis as part of a transfer involving West Coast and Port Adelaide which could land the Roos West Coast’s pick two.

But the mooted three-way deal could become a four-way exchange if the Roos can engage GWS on a swap for either pick one or pick two (potentially on-traded from West Coast).

GWS, which holds picks 3, 12, 15, 18 and 19, has already held talks with clubs about bundling up some of those choices for an earlier pick higher up the order.

It means the Roos could offer up pick one or two for multiple selections at the back end of the first round and then try and tempt St Kilda to off-load Clark for one of them.

The Saints’ hard nut midfielder considered a trade despite having one more year to run on his contract and was buoyed by the arrival of Lenny Hayes as midfield coach at St Kilda.

The investigation into North Melbourne coach Alastair Clarkson about the treatment of First Nations players during his time at Hawthorn had also clouded the move.

Confident this trade will get done after hearing he wasn't happy being shopped. Just a matter of what pick we get which is hopefully close to 10ish.

And just for those again bringing Higgins and the selfish call up again. Stuck in the Twilight Zone of incorrect facts.

The comments on Higgins were after the Pies game in Rd 1. Then over the course of the next 9 games, had games like the following

In amongst others he was concussed twice and still managed to kick a goal in one of them.

Calling Hunter Clark a ‘hard nut’ is a bit of a stretch. Brave certainly.
Nut not that hard, keeps getting split open

Stats are great, but there were plenty of moments were he had a shot on goal but tried to be unselfish and basically handed the ball to the opposition.

He isn’t a prospect anymore though is he. It’s put up or shut up time and this time next year with another average year.

We end up with a terrible second rounder.
Wasn't it top 10 or nothing 2 weeks ago?

Or Are we talking about Haynes deal now?

I can't keep up

This is my opinion.

I’d take the deal for Clark if it’s a top 15 pick, but I want Haynes + a first rounder.

Use the space get another kid in.

If we are investing in the draft. This is the time to do it.

24 months time. We have 5 kids in the top 30 picks + Windhager Owens NWM ready to lead. King at the peak of his powers.

We take anything less than a top ten for Clark, we have panicked and not stuck to what we said about Clark i.e ' It has to be overs or we keep him'.
Ditch him for 15 and it will be appalling.

Fair enough.

Wasn't that long ago you were saying top 10 pick or nothing.

If it's become toxic with Clark I guess 15 is gonna have to be what we take, but I don't see why that would be a good reason other than that.

I'd rather have a 25 year old Clark in 24 months time than a 20 year old pick 15 if it were my call

Is there actually anything in the Haynes talk other than suggestions on trade radio? I doubt Giants would consider that

Hayes and 15 would be a great result, but would pretty much guarantee that Battle has to play key forward.

If Battle struggles in the forward line we will lose him to another club. Something we'd need to keep in mind.

If we can get 15 with Haynes, and let's say 12 for Clark, we would in a decent position with 9, 12, 15, 27 and 32.... I wonder if Brisbane would be open to trading 27 and 32 for their 2023 1st?

That first will be sent to the dogs for Dunkley

Injuries totally cruelled him this season. I still have hopes for Bytel

Would be pretty happy if we brought in Haynes, Pick 12 & Pick 15 for Clark and 32.

Not a huge Haynes fan but could be handy if we can get him back to his previous form and if he comes with 15 even better. Would happily do Clark for 12. Love his skill set but just not sure he is going to take that next step. Especially given how prone to getting hurt he is.

100% When King is 24 or 25 and in his prime we better make sure we have the players around him to make a push for the flag.
There's no point having King in his prime and we are rebuilding from the bottom of the ladder.
If we do by the time those kids are ready King will be 28/29 and we may have 1 or 2 finals series before we rebuild again

You need to make sure you've a got a recruiter that won't put you in the same position in 5 years time though. There hasn't been much joy at the top end of the draft outside King over the last decade. We are gambling on Toce being up to standard.
