If there is anything in that Haynes dump.I would like us to be known as the salary dumps Saints.
We'll take anyone's trash for picks.

I dunno. I still think a fit Hunter Clark could fill a bigger hole.
Get both he and Coffield fit and nail our first pick this year and that's a big win in my book.
I'd look at other ways to try and get a pick in that region.

Fair enoughI’m not talking about trading Hunter. I’m talking about the Haynes + 15 scenario. If it really exists.
That’s going to be needed for Dunkley will it not?I know some people here love to look at draft points so...
As we sit right now there are only 5 clubs that have more draft points then us
IMO that means very little unless you are taking academy kids with them, but we are at least in a good position to move up the draft if we can find a taker.
Shame we missed that Brisbane pick 15
We have more than enough to move up to their pick 19 though

Yeah I just added that they will likely have to use it for DunkleyThat’s going to be needed for Dunkley will it not?
Which will then be needed for Lobb
And then for Jackson….
I wonder how close to the limit our soft cap is getting.
I don’t get this Haynes dump. Bowes I do because he has proven nothing and on huge money. Haynes for basically no pick I understand but why chuck in a pick. He surely would be wanted by clubs with room for nothing. I know he is getting on but surely it’s a great deal even without a pick.If there is anything in that Haynes dump.
Yes and I still think he would be a good player and role model for the likes of Coffield.
I’m not sure it’s that simple. We get the most money off the afl of any Victorian club. Doubt they will give us their money to just give it back to them.I’d just employ him regardless. If we need to pay a tax then pay it.
Premierships are won off-field. Adding both Walsh and Noble to our football department gives us two of the competition’s most canny and ruthless operators.
Because he is 30 and on 700+k apparentlyI don’t get this Haynes dump. Bowes I do because he has proven nothing and on huge money. Haynes for basically no pick I understand but why chuck in a pick. Umm…
Max King, if you are happy with the C grade version that generally has no impact on games.
David Noble literally called king a superstar. Said clubs double team him right now and he still impacts games.
We would get a better return than if we spend it on players.I’d just employ him regardless. If we need to pay a tax then pay it.

I want a pick around 13-15 to nab Hollands.
I think he’s got scope to be a seriously good mid/wingman. If it means Hunter goes out and we also get Haynes and pick 15 then sign me up.

Max king is twice the player mate. He's pretty much Max King, has days where he can't miss and others where he invents new ways to miss.
I'm not sure I'd want to take on 800k for a 31 year old AND lose Clark for a pick in the teensI want a pick around 13-15 to nab Hollands.

Get that but him for nothing and no add on is a good deal for some clubs.Because he is 30 and on 700+k apparently
So he adds no value to the future. The argument could be made he is on the down hill slope.
But for us, even 3/4 of his best. Is still better than anyone as an intercepting tall.
I’m not really comparing him to the bowes deal. I understand that deal. I still think a club would take Haynes for nothing without adding to it. Every club would take Whitfield with nothing else added. I’d pay his whole wage.Bowes was showing plenty promise before going down with a shoulder and Dew favoured him over Brodie over the years. Bowes is almost identical in every way to Hunter Clark, high pick, promising at times, playing HBF instead of mid where his looks a more natural fit. Some question marks due to injury but not really injury prone.
I think I'd rather take the gamble on Bowes than a 30 year old Haynes who was at his best a running rebound defender, kind of a cross between Dylan Roberton and Mason Wood. He's more athletic than most blokes his size but that stuff goes first as a tall power athlete and his last couple of seasons have been below average. Haynes is on close to $1 million pa too I think.
Whitfield is more and a longer contract but makes more sense to team balance at the Saints. If you could get them to pay $250k a year for him it would be an acceptable gamble IMO.
I think the some people are forgetting that Clark will be 24 when the season starts. That means he has had 6 years to develop his game to be a established AFL player that was a very high draft pick
We all the talent that he has and yes he has had injuries, but the injuries have been over the last 2 years. He is not a KP player that needs time to develop.
If you look a the track record of drafting these days - 1st year player's come in and make a mark straight away and especially for mids/halfbacks they almost instantly have an impact. You just have to look at our 3 boys as an example.
I think we need to cut our losses with Clark and hope we get a top 15 pick and hit the draft and get a youngster who can come in like Windy/Owens and make an immediate impact to the side.
Membrey is 29 at the start of the season next year. He might have one or two more years of reasonable footy maybe, but not any more than that imo.It would be a dumb idea he's a heart and soul player and he's a lot better than the credit he gets.
