I have been saying this time and time again for years, but it seems that people don't want to hear it.

The pursuit of excellence has been compromised at Moorabbin and replaced with a "Near enough is good enough" attitude where coaches are lhappier to create an amicable atmosphere push players close to realising their absolute potential.

Completely agree. Keep drafting in young guys and turning them into junk because our development sucks. Look at our vfl coach turnover dreadful. You can’t keep being in young kids when the development sucks. Also maybe our development of certain types of players has been okay ie Mature agers but specifically the early draft picks and imo our ability to let them go from talented to superstar level has not been there compared to that of day the dogs , deez, etc.

Some Twitter rando just linked us to Lachie Hunter, along with Norf and the Paperbaggers…

with the Cheese Platters out in front.

Petracca, Oliver, Viney, Brayshaw and Hunter being fed by Gawn AND Grundy would be absolutely insane.
And Dunstan waiting in the wings.

It could be Schache too but I hope not as he's next to useless.

If you can get a Top 10 draftee under the age of 23/4 for a late late pick, roll the dice.

Call it the Peter Wright rule.

If that's Dow or McCasey, if the cost is very low, it's worth a 2 year minor contract risk.
We’ve given longer contracts to worse footballers… see Matty Allison

Well we’re not on our pat malone.
There’s 13 of the 17 clubs that have expressed little or no interest in the deal.
I take some comfort in that.
Brisbane also had plenty of interest early.

Bowes was reportedly keen on a move to Victoria which leaves a lot of clubs out obviously

Then you have clubs like the Tigers, Pies and Melbourne with a fair bit in the pipeline and tighter caps than we should have.

Us along with North, Essendon and Hawthorn should all be in fairly good positions to make it work.

Carlton the only other Vic club not interested. Not surprising with the massive contracts they have given to McKay, Cripp, Walsh, Curnow, Williams etd

Geelong have obviously seen some room opening up with retirements are willing to strike. They are just about the best in the business at building a list that can compete every year.

The Brodie one is also another that you could look at.
If we are not selling the farm to get these blokes in then I'm not totally against it.

Plus Geelong can get away with paying their players less for some
Reason. 🙄

Yep another good example.

If the trade and contract value is low, compared to a very late Draftee choice- there's potential for a very high return.

I'd take Dow and McCasey for minimum contracts and 4th+ picks. Depth players with in-built development at worst.
