Cuner's gets lost too easy during transition play. He has low footy IQ.
Personally i think he’s not bad in the footy IQ department, he gets a little lost in that forward role at times…
I’ve seen him at times do things around contests that have shown there is a clever footballer in there if he can put it all together…

Cunners is underrated. Played VFL and laid a large amount of tackles. Think Arrow is probably right with the run with role but he offers a very good blend of offence defence ahead of other guys and if you watch his centre bounce work even against Brisbane he was a lot better than others before being thrust back onto the Carlton graveyard of HFF.

The thinking is wrong omac over young.
Omac has a career of getting found out at fullback. Yes, he will pull out a good game here and there but Melbourne leaked goals over the journey. Carlton need to invest senior games in the young talented players like Young. Basically, give talented youth first crack in a toss up selection between them and a senior player. Yes to Young, Honey, Durdin, Carrol, Kemp, Pickett, owies. No to Omac, Mcgov, Plowman, Lob, etc
If young was so talented and a long term key position prospect the dogs would've got more for him.

He'll be a decent stop gap and rotation but shouldn't expect too much from Young.

Run with is the last thing I'd do with cunners. He's a ball hunter and should be bursting through stoppages, not trailing someone else.

Big call on some of those names. I agree where it's a 50/50 pick, but some of those senior players will definitely get picked first. McGovern and Plow in particular.

Some really interesting theories starting to develop and there hasn't been a competitive game played under a new coach/gameplan, with a different list to last year (injuries included)

Don't think the Demons leaked goals purely because of OMac.

Cuners playing a run with role doesn't mean he will be a tagger or trailing his opponent, moreso someone to take him to the next phase of play then use his burst, as was the case when he played on McGrath in the *game

Players can be rated completely different from one year to the other, from a side outside the 8, to then making finals

Point in case would be the Demons, 17th, 9th, flag winners

Wondering how those flag winning players were judged 3 seasons ago

Young and Owies are older than LOB.

What does he offer when he’s unsighted for the other 2 & a half quarters though? Nearly all players on the list could pull out a “good game” like cuners does once in a blue moon - he’s just not able to do it often or consistently enough. How many years on a list for what - a couple good games & a few ”glimpses”. Yet plowman gets smashed by the fans week in, week out.

parish gives me endless hope for players like lob, dow, cotts etc.........

Yeah same here. His development almost seemed to come overnight (although it didn’t). But he’s definite proof that you can go from so-so to a dominating mid with the right tutelage.

1) Parish's worst season (pre-2021) was better than either of LOB and Dow's best seasons.

2) Just because a 'Parish-leap' is possible, it doesn't make it probable...

More of the same from my eye, intense and looked to do the simple things well, looked like he had a bit more adventure too in his distribution
