Hey sure thing theGavs56First rule of bigfooty: People posting training reports can make as many spelling errors as they like.
the reports have been stellar, but I like stirring pots too
He's not a forward's arseh*le.Lobb could easily be a great forward, the guy is just lazy, he has all the skills and talent.
Him and Liam both need a good kick up the ass. He's not a forward's a-hole.
He wants to be one (a forward, probably not their a-hole), but he's a ruck that can drift forward and take advantage of his stupidly good mobility that he has for his considerable height.
Doesn't have the forward craft and timing/direction of leads. Can take a decent mark at times, but a real forward doesn't just bob up for one now and again like he does.
Don't get me wrong, it's not that I dislike him or don't think he is a good player at his best. I was very happy when we picked him up and I think he's had good periods of form for us.
To me he's a ruck that can go forward, rather than a forward that can ruck.

I went down today for a bit. Amiss is definitely our quickest tall forward in leading drills already. His pressure is brilliant for a tall forward.Interested to here about Amiss, not a lot said about him from the media reports or online training reports.
What an utter load of pure rubbish. Actually he looks terrific when training. He has lost a bit of muscle and seems to have got back the speed he displayed when playing underage football. Tucker tore his hamstring off the bone and injured his other hamstring early last year. You must think Fyfe has no idea if you think Tucker can't play when he gets a run without injuries.I don't think stepping past Darcy Tucker based on last year's form is a big call. A witches hat could be looking at stepping past him.
Honestly...with his disposal, slow and often head scratching decision making, I find it hard to see Darcy anywhere but a run-with/tagger mid, an inside mid or a forward flanker/pocket. Anywhere else he just hurts you too much. Playing him off half back was one of JL's worst moves by far, i thought. Kinda obvious what would happen. Turnovers galore, and not good enough defensively in marking contests, nor the lateral tackling ability or speed to keep up with the quicker forwards.
Brilliant effort. Thanks. I went down today. I could have missed someone but I think all but Benning were on the park training. O'Driscoll and Chapman both seem hugely improved from last year. Amiss showed some awesome speed when chasing and tackling in some of the drills. LIke a taller switta defensively in a way. Tucker looked trim and quick in some full ground drills. Erasmus' kicking seems better than advertised as he wasn't described as being super skilled in the draft write ups and he seems very skilled in training already.Preseason training report#3
Who is there?
I think about 41 players, the only player not sighted that I am aware of was Hamling.
Rehab
Fyfe, Tabs, Walker, Tracy, Schultz
All are running and looked ok, just building fitness or getting over a minor niggle
Fyfe ran laps at a very good rate and is progressing at a rapid rate (still marking one handed) and did a lot of goal kicking
Young, Sturt, Benning and Amiss (who has a very significant left knee bandage) spent time in rehab and with the main group.
Injured possibly?
Lobb - was working on the cross trainer and finished abruptly and then could barely walk, must have strained a leg or groin going by the difficulty he had in walking back to the change rooms
Main training
Wilson and Cox back in main training
Johnson’s terrific kicking skills starting to stand out
Amiss spending time opposed to Pearce - what a lesson for the youngster
Chapman and Clark looking very composed and combining coming out of defence
Skills in the 13 on 13 full oval drills was only average with players still struggling to hit or find open players
Lots of running with Acres, Erasmus, Valente,, Mundy, Brodie, Crowden, Serong, O’Driscoll, Brayshaw and Johnson running in the midfielders group
Impressed by Darcy’s skills below his knees picking up the footy like a rover on numerous occasions
Forward Line
This is being run by Graham and Lecca and in my view there is significant improvement happening in conversion on goal and crumbing a goal. Lecca is massive for this group he had individual training with Sturt (close to not missing a single shot on goal), Amiss (also barely missed a goal) and then Western and Fredericks practicing crumbing goals - Western was clever and Fredericks has a lot of work to do on his forward craft.
Lecca was showing Sturt one of his skills which is to hold a ball and have someone kick the ball at the ball he is holding. Lecca would allow the ball kicked to him to hit the ball he was holding out of his hands and in the same motion catch the incoming ball, Sturt could not get this “party trick”.
Best signers of merchandise for the kids
Darcy, Switta, Son Son, Henry, Brayshaw and Western
Training the house down
Lecca - looks like he could still play but is adding a lot to our forward craft (yeah he is a coach but outstanding)
Son Son and Johnson kicking skills were outstanding
I get paid for this right????
This is not your typical bigfooty thread, and there is a history of little and not so little digs at posters doing training reports. Nothing personal, but we seem to have reached a groupthink position where that no longer happens. If it re-emerges I hope the mods have a no tolerance response.Hey sure thing theGavs56the reports have been stellar, but I like stirring pots too

He played some great games as our number 1 ruckman where he was vital taking defensive marks on the wing when we had slim leadsit definitely doesnt help, but i dont think his best footy is played predominantly forward. i think it was 2019, games against the giants and essendon where he played a bit further up the ground as the link up for our transition where he was dominant
dont think his or tabs leading patterns are good enough to have the both of them in there majority of the time anyway
Noddy laid the meanest tackles by far, just looked impossible to break free from.
NOD came over for a chat with those watching training at the end of the session when his training was done. He said the coaches wanted him to play wing this year and move into the middle later in his career. From memory he did some great sprint times in draft testing and he finished second overall in the repeat 1km's recently. He also said that he thought his good mate Chapman was dominating during training and would be in our best 22 next season.Great to hear the positive reports on NOD. I’m hoping he can develop in to a tall wingman, who can also role through the middle. Could be very important for us in the future with his versatility and booming kicking

LeCra and Graham are wonderful additions. Way more vocal and more involved than Hale was. They give very specific and detailed instruction from what you can tell while watching them on the training track. Jamie is a ripping human being from what Ive been told by friend who had a bit to do with Jamie when he did fundraising for the Wanslea Family Services charity.
Hamling was training fully from what I sWThanks for the report. Was Hamling training?
Could not agree more about the difference Graham and Lecca are having to our forward line work.
Thank God he won't be stuck at half back. Actually have a fighting chance to get a game on the wing.NOD came over for a chat with those watching training at the end of the session when his training was done. He plays a lot better on the wing too.Thank God he won't be stuck at half back. Actually have a fighting chance to get a game on the wing.
