Using the recent federal election results as a guide or preview to the upcoming Victorian state election, how many seats did Labor win in Victoria as opposed to the Coalition and also the 'teals'/independents?

You know how we said the libs were falling over themselves to lose the branding, especially where teals were in play?

Looks like labor MPs are doing it too. Our first flier of the election arrived this week

Can't believe that the Vic Liberals would be training independent candidates to run in Labor seats at the upcoming Victoria election, in the hope that if a independent candidate wins in a safe Labor seat, the preference would go to the Liberals.

And when was the last time an opposition-whether it's Labor or Liberal, not counting Scott Morrison's 2019 'miracle' federal election win-has come from that far back to win an election, at either state or federal level? To put it in AFL terms, the Victorian Coalition are looking at a 100+ point wipeout at the Victorian political version of the grand final. And it's too late to sack the coach.

I think the 'Teals' reckon that Matthew Guy's seat is a much easier target compared to Daniel Andrews.

Do the Libs have 'a Dee Madigan' on the payroll - even she started 18 months out on Albo's campaign.

The Roy Morgan newspoll has been released, and according to the figures Daniel Andrews will be heading for a easy victory over Matthew Guy's Coalition and win his third term in office on November 26. Only question now is what time will the ABC's Antony Green call the election result that night.

Why even have the election?

BTW, it's either a Roy Morgan poll or a Newspoll.

Can't understand why the Victorian Opposition (the Coalition) didn't learn from their SA counterparts how to win elections. The Opposition in SA was bipartisan with the Government over the pandemic crisis up until the start of the election, then went feral come election time and defeated Steve Marshall's government. That is what the Victorian Liberals should've been doing right throughout the pandemic instead of playing politics-remember the 800 crosses planted by the then Opposition Leader Michael O'Brien on the lawns of Parliament House?

South australians are smart. The vic libs are not smart. Not one little bit.

This is the numbers from the Roy Morgan poll:

Who will win the Victorian State Election on November 26:
Labor: 59.5%
Coalition: 40.5%

Better Leader:
Daniel Andrews: 64.5%
Matthew Guy: 35.5%

And here's an interesting stat according to Morgan-since Jeff Kennett's defeat in 1999, the Coalition in Victoria has been in power for only 4 out of 23 years-in other words, a paltry 17% of that time period.

11/40 years if you go back to the start of Caine in 82, of course they had a good what 26-27 years straight in power prior to that so

Wonder if some of the less screechy anti-Dan types are softening up.

Moving on from pandemic being the issue of the day and onto cost-of-living, there's a lot they can spruik to the wider electorate. The power-saving bonus will go over well. Bayswater electorate has lots of little projects going on to campaign on locally, as will others.

People like their governments being visible and doing things. Liberals still haven't announced anything aside from "Dan bad."

Andrews leaves the Libs with no where to go.

He is huge on Infrastructure which takes the Oxygen of Guy
He gives some money back to the People and even though it is a pittance, its something the Libs would never do
Then he tries to appease his Green Left with his "No More Gas Extraction" policy

I'm sure its not all him, he must have very good advisors, but Guy cannot get within daylight of him

which might push him to repeat the religious fuelled craziness of the 2018 election campaign ..... so far hes shown signs of tempering that madness but a few more polls like this might spook the nutters that advise him

michael kroger has a lot to answer for

Can anyone recall an opposition-whether it's at state or federal level-have come from so far behind in the polls where the Vic Coalition is now at (60% Labor, 40% Coalition according to Roy Morgan poll) just 5 months out from election day and won an election against the odds?
