Wouldn’t be opposed to thatTotally understand but think it would be better to trade 20 into next years draft if we have no interest in using it.
If nexts draft is truly a midfielders draft, that will only strengthen our hand for that

Edit: reread it the wrong way. 14/20 for 9 which means we have 9 and 10?Seems to be talk of 14 and 20 for Essendons pick 9 and 35.
Would love this.Edit: reread it the wrong way. 14/20 for 9 which means we have 9 and 10?
Might be a better strategy to leave out the Melbourne F2 and the pick 35 (just 14 + 20 for 9) and set up a deal with a club for the melbourne F2 at a specific time in the draft if the player we want is there - Pick 35 might be too late to get the player whereas a future pick might tempt a clubWould love this.
Also happy to through in Melb F2 for 35 this year.
14, 20 and Melb f2 for 9 and 35.
Stop making so much sense.Might be a better strategy to leave out the Melbourne F2 and the pick 35 (just 14 + 20 for 9) and set up a deal with a club for the melbourne F2 at a specific time in the draft if the player we want is there - Pick 35 might be too late to get the player whereas a future pick might tempt a club
I think the reason given by Essendon types for including 31/35, is that otherwise Essendon would be left with that pick but no list spot to use it. So, unless they could trade one of those picks out, they may require that this forms part of the deal.Might be a better strategy to leave out the Melbourne F2 and the pick 35 (just 14 + 20 for 9) and set up a deal with a club for the melbourne F2 at a specific time in the draft if the player we want is there - Pick 35 might be too late to get the player whereas a future pick might tempt a club
Fair call..I'd bet trying to push for our F3 personally, but if it had to be the melbourne F2 - so be itI think the reason given by Essendon types for including 31/35, is that otherwise Essendon would be left with that pick but no list spot to use it. I suspect that it would be easier for us to accept that than they to trade it.
We could trade it into next year on the night, easilyI think the reason given by Essendon types for including 31/35, is that otherwise Essendon would be left with that pick but no list spot to use it. I agree taking a CHB other than Curtin or O'Sullivan would be not be smart, by the time they are AFL ready Murray will back playing good footy again. Crows in desperate need of skilful running mid-fielders. I would be looking at loading up for next year (2024) going after Petty, Sid Draper and Kade Herbert. We aren’t drafting for the ‘Now’ with these early picks
These are for medium and long term making our club / team stronger , not next year
Logical thing to do. On draft night another club might be desperate to get a certain player not yet picked and the Crows could extract an excellent deal.Wouldn’t be opposed to that
Yeah 35 is dead zoneMight be a better strategy to leave out the Melbourne F2 and the pick 35 (just 14 + 20 for 9) and set up a deal with a club for the melbourne F2 at a specific time in the draft if the player we want is there - Pick 35 might be too late to get the player whereas a future pick might tempt a club
It will come back in after academy bids - maybe even into the late 20's (of the available players outside the academy and f/s kids) - and you'd think if we wanted a ruck, we will get one or maybe a risk on Moir?Yeah 35 is dead zone
It (35) comes in four, but gets pushed out more - it'll be 36-38 on the night. It will come back in after academy bids - maybe even into the late 20's (of the available players outside the academy and f/s kids) - and you'd think if we wanted a ruck, we will get one or maybe a risk on Moir?
Moir confused meIt will come back in after academy bids - maybe even into the late 20's (of the available players outside the academy and f/s kids) - and you'd think if we wanted a ruck, we will get one or maybe a risk on Moir?
Had an injury that he was dealing with didnt he?..Moir confused me
I don't know if he tanked or he genuinely switched off which is a red flag
That includes the academy and f/s players which we don't have access to so it would still be in the late 20's of the available pool of playersIt (35) comes in four, but gets pushed out more - it'll be 36-38 on the night.
Yes, and that pool of players is counted in official selections. Why would you choose not to count it? It's a meaningless distinction to make. Thilthorpe wasn't pick 1, was he?That includes the academy and f/s players which we don't have access to so it would still be in the late 20's of the available pool of players
Simple - because with our pick 10 - we are considering taking O'Sullivan, Wilson, Leake - we are not considering Read, Rogers, McCabe etc as they are not available to us. Its reality as players simply are not available when their aligned clubs are wedded and pick ready to take them.Yes, and that pool of players is counted in official selections. Why would you choose not to count it? It's a meaningless distinction to make. Thilthorpe wasn't pick 1, was he?
Also, it isn't even necessarily true that you can't access them. If a player gets bid a lot earlier than expected (Will Graham for instance), Gold Coast might not match.
And even if you don't count those players, 35 still only comes in four (Gold Coast's 24, 26, 27 and 32 get eaten), so someone like you could only read it as 31. Not late 20s.
I wonder if anyone last year was suggesting we should load up in 2023 for Moir.I agree taking a CHB other than Curtin or O'Sullivan would be not be smart, by the time they are AFL ready Murray will back playing good footy again.
