So - midfielders we'll be trying to find time for next year.

Dawson
Laird
Rachele
Soligo
Pedlar
Berry

We maybe only need one more to add to that - we're starting to get quite a few that I think can be top shelf and we'll need to find time for them all.

If Pedlar can be close to a full-time mid next season - man, watch out

Rankine? Career high 21 disposals last week against Geelong with 95% TOG and had another 20 today so he does have the tank which Rachele doesn't have right now. Also doesn't mind to chase, tackle and harass and some of his disposal by both hand and foot on ball has been elite.

Rankine’s overall impact seems to have gone up another notch with us. Similar goals, but more disposals and up the ground impact

The benefits of getting a readymade prospect with our top pick instead of drafting someone and waiting 4 years for them to develop I guess haha

Dew said they were planning to transition him into the midfield so it's not surprising he has the fitness to play midfield now.

Yeah I saw people earlier today mentioning what misses Serong, Pickett and Day were when we downgraded to take McAsey.....If that doesn't happen it's almost certain Pedlar would have been plying his trade with GWS....McAsey was a bust no doubt as it turned out but Pedlar has the talent to be as good or maybe better than all 3 of Serong, Day and Pickett in the long run.
Still a way to go to get to those levels, but boy are his flashes (both fwd and mid) impressive. Becoming more and more commonplace by the week, too

Really want him to have a Day-like jump in production next year haha

It’s not even about being directly in the midfield (although he got 4 CBAs today), but working up and down the ground and just generally showing his class

The more Rankine touches the ball, the better

Whilst I don't 100% agree with your view, it is refreshing to hear.

I cringe a bit when I read/hear Adelaide supporters talking him up.

Yeah, he's likely going to be a good player, I just don't feel the need to tell everyone that. Every team has good players.

It's like some are so s**t scared of him possibly being a champion of the game for 15 years, for our most hated rivals, that they are trying to get on the front foot to deal with the mental anguish.

This won't be everyone's motivation but I think it's real for some.

he gets talked up a bit because lots of Adelaide supporters piled on with the Roos crazies. There's a thread full of demented ramblings about his attitude, injury and being overrated.

The reports on Twomey's podcast this week was that most recruiters were starting to get a bit worried about the quality of this year's draft.
I personally don’t rate it

Miles off last years top 10 for a start , not sure re depth either

Good draft for rucks

From today's SA Academy vs NSW Academy I thought SA's best were Will McCabe (Hawks F/S), Kade Herbert and Tom Wheaton but hard to get a real gauge with heavy rotations throughout the game...really liked the run and dare of Declan Gladigau on the wing and 2024 prospect Phoenix Hardgrave was handy when injected into the game.

Anyone know if Declan is related to Peter? Former good first class cricketer for SA?

I don't believe so. Declan is from up Murray Bridge way. Old man is named Travis from memory

Under Burgess draftees arent taking 4 years.
Look at Jackson, Pickett, Rivers for instance, minimum 60 games clocked up out of a possible 73.

Rachelle, Soligo, Michalanney on track for 70- 80 games in their first four years.

Soligo is the one that has impressed me the most. He was on no draft radar until very late. I wouldn’t be surprised if Adelaide was the only club interested in him. I doubt he will ever be a Brownlow medallist but his upside is huge.

Soligo was definitely on people's radars. Just not front of mind on this board. Was heavily linked to one of the tiger's three picks in the 20s but they surpirsed and went banks instead.

And I'm bloody glad they did. Soggy is already one of my favourites

I think Taylor Goad will be out focus if we're looking at a developing young ruckman 207cm athlete coming from a recent basketball background that ran 2.92 at preseason testing.
Ruckman tend to only start to come good at 25. That would mean a 7 year wait.
I want a developing ruck but should also be looking at a 22-23 year old ruck if there’s any out there already on a list?
