See the big Ethan Read had 27 possessions as a ruck in the Coates league game on Sunday for GC academy

202cm kid that hasn’t got close to filling out yet

Could be an absolute freak

Edwards is also very good from WA …. Looking forward to seeing who does best in nationals including Goad
Has any of Syd/GWS/Bris/GC had two top 10 academy picks in the same draft before?

Read and Walter seem like they’ll be taken well in that range, as it stands

Surely it’s happened but can’t think of when

Not too far off last year with Ashcroft / Fletcher

Maybe it hasn’t happened yet and might for GC

3 inside 20 is a big chance for them too , almost guaranteed I reckon

Yeah Rogers feels a bit like Darcy Jones last year, tiny but too talented to not go top 20

I’d still like to look at getting GC’s first somehow, we have a decent package to offer them so they can get extra points

Not sure he'll be there at that point, looks to have put on some size this season and has even had a few squirts on ball this season and hasn't looked out of place.

With Moir not really looking quite the player he projected to be on last year's form Delean could possibly now be in the discussion for first SA lad picked which would have been out of the question coming into the 2023 season.
Not totally sold on either of these 2

Want to see how they go can in tough conditions in the champs

Definitely have liked Delean’s start to the season, if he kicks goals and has some up the ground influence in the Champs he’s definitely in first round contention

Otherwise, a lot of the good small forwards (unless they’re elite talents) seem to go in the 2nd round these days, eg Motlop, Curtis, C Clarke, Hotton etc

I think Delean is more of an aerial threat than those guys personally, can really get airborne for a player his size to go with his ability in heavy traffic and innate goal sense.
Few similar traits to weightman including the hair

Probably can’t see us taking him

If McAdam leaves it’s a possibility I reckon

Moir too, although at this stage I probably rate Delean a tad higher
Everyone’s seems to have jumped off Moir pretty quickly..

Couple of quiet games to start the year and he’s no good it seems..

A few months ago he was the best thing since sliced bread!..

It happens every year with someone. Harry Lemmey was that guy last year

If Moir can impact the U18 champs in a big way, he rises back up my board, though. He’s certainly talented

Agree

Wait till the nationals and if he has a shocker over the tournament then maybe, but otherwise, he showed huge potential last year...surely does not lose that

Happens regularly with SA kids I reckon

Good in their own back pond but sometimes struggle with intensity at higher level

He could still go top 5 but would need to string together a big championships and play well against the Vics and WA especially

Have you watched any of his games this year?

He's been almost invisible in the 2 AFL Academy games when the class has risen.

Can he be more than dual sided medium forward?
Can he transition into a midfielder?

Nationals will likely have a big say in where he lands in the draft pecking order now.

The Nationals start for SA start on June 4 against the Allies at Thebby Oval who I think will field a pretty strong team this year especially with top end talent.

Then it's Vic Metro again at Thebby Oval on June 11.

June 18 Vic Country at Ikon Park (Princes Park)

June 24 WA at Optus Stadium.
Did I read last week, Moir has/is having issues with his hip ?

Hamish seems to think this is the deepest a draft has gone in terms of the "half back" position believes there's like 15 quality prospects in just that position this draft
Wonder if that impacts whether we go for Redman or not

I kinda hope not, feel like we need a guaranteed gun there

Hopefully someone in the range of one of our second rounders.

The other second rounder needs to be used on a ruck or KPP as we've neglected our tall stocks.

I can't see us getting Redman. He's staying at the Dons. I've said for ages we need speed off HB. Since Dave mcKay retired we lost our punch out of defence and drive through the fwd half of the ground. We are building a strong young list. Get in some speed and chaos out of the back half.

I agree we need more drive out of defence, we need our Hayden Young or Saad. Problem is, we need it in the next few years, and I don’t see that player as being currently on our list

I wouldn’t mind us chasing Jakob Ryan next year, for someone a bit more advanced in their development. Otherwise, you draft one of the plethora of HBs in this draft and hope they develop quickly

You never know, but I’m leaning towards Redman staying too.

I would love for us to target Isaac Cumming and Elijah Hollands.
