66 games to date and at nearly 22 is improving each year and looks to be on a nice trajectoryYeah, Lachie Ash was who I was hoping for before we traded down, at that time I thought we were still a chance at 6 until it became pretty obvious McAsey was list management's target.
Drafting .. sometimes wonder how much of a roll of the dice it is for the young fellas as well depending on where they finish upI honestly thought he'd be more dominant than he has been, liked his run and dare, also had the hard edge to go with it. Maybe if he'd gone to a different club I always thought he had midfield traits but that was never happening at GWS with their midfield depth...it was obvious GWS saw him as a Heath Shaw replacement.
I was keen on Day but thought he would probably go 10-20 where we didn't have a pick. He was also a half back and I didn't think he'd move into the midfield so easily.I went back and checked the 2019 Draft thread - Will Day wasnt even in the poll and the most votes went for Fischer
Draft experts indeed
Then again I clicked Brodie Kemp even as I liked Serong but looking back I think I was seduced by Kemps height v Serong

There’s Philactides likely then , as is the taller SA boy Patton who sort of plays in a Mitch hinge styleHopefully someone in the range of one of our second rounders.
The other second rounder needs to be used on a ruck or KPP as we've neglected our tall stocks.

We'd have to offer an actually good playerLet's say West Coast put pick 1 (Harley Reid) on the table.
What would you be willing to offer West Coast? Reid would be absolutely perfect for us and is exactly what we need. So I would be all in.
I'd start with our 1st pick in 2023, add our 2 second round picks, and our 1st pick in 2024.
Then I'd offer any of the following for them to pick from:
Himmelberg
McAdam
Keays
Crouch
Hately
Schoenberg
Sholl
Gollant
I'd let them have up to 2 or 3 of these guys.

I like how he's really stepping up this year - seems ideal for our needs.Joel Freijah has speed, agility, good tank, offers plenty of run, decent size (191cm 86kg) and can play running back/wing/half forward and has gone alright when used in the midfield rotations. Booming kick and another from the Horsham Saints football factory which is handy from a retention factor. Don't think 2nd round is out of the question with Joel either.

Isn’t there some rule that once you trade your first round you can’t trade your other picks for the year?Let's say West Coast put pick 1 (Harley Reid) on the table.

We're not in the race - right now, we have picks 11, 20 (north), 23 (gws) and 2024 picks.I mean, if we're offering that, why would WCE put up the pick? It's a bit of a repeat of the North situation where there is just no point in passing up such a talent (and North made the right move picking JHF, they ****ed up afterwards).
It's not like, say quarterback, where it's both insanely valuable and only one job for each team.
Someone's posted Reid interview. If I'm Reid I'm going to West Coast, away from the Vic media number 1 pick hype, west coast are utter trash so no one is expecting you to light the world on fire from round 1 even sign a contract extension to make it 3 years, spend the 3 years developing in Perth a wonderful place and then pick whichever Victorian club is contending and head home.
Whatever gets Justin out of the place then I'm all for itIf I'm Reid I'm going to West Coast, away from the Vic media number 1 pick hype, west coast are utter trash so no one is expecting you to light the world on fire from round 1 even sign a contract extension to make it 3 years, spend the 3 years developing in Perth a wonderful place and then pick whichever Victorian club is contending and head home.

Philactides is probably the best - I also like Roberts, Stevens (although I think he needs to be a mid), Shipp, Hardeman, Lual, even versatile guys like Patton, Evans and HastieThere’s Philactides likely then , as is the taller SA boy Patton who sort of plays in a Mitch hinge style
Will try think of some others but they’re the most obvious in the 2nd round area
