Here are my prediction for the leading player from each State team for next year.

Allies - Ryley Sanders
SA - Ashton Moir
VICC - Sam Frangalas
VICM - Nick Watson
WA - Dan Curtin
What are the KPP prospects looking like for next year?

We need a young genuine KPF at the very minimum.

Expect us to look for a KPD after matching our two FS kids this year.

eDPS.

What has you thinking Moir will overtake Delean?
Both are very good forward but Moir looks to have a bit of De Goey/Stringer about him at the next level as an impact forward who can go through the midfield. I like Delean a lot but have a feeling Moir will be in higher demand come draft time.

Hard to say this early on but Dan Curtin I feel will be a very high pick. Could play back or forward. I need to see a bit more of the crop but expecting less to play as this year has some good taller talent that will play ahead of the bottom age talls.

Those 2 were the best of the 2023 crop today.
I'd have Sanders above Philactides today, was Sandy's second best for mine, but if they continue this way all will be high picks regardless.. Philactides is going to be interesting to track, looks really comfortable out of the backline but reckon he's got the tools to somewhat mimic Tsatas as a midfielder

i rewatched the game and I would still have Philactides above Sanders as I reckon he has more upside. Some of his defensive work and contested marks were great. I also agree with you I think he could transition into the midfield with his speed and strength.

I noticed on Monday the only team that didn’t play 17 yr olds was Eastern Rangers. So I have a couple of questions. Is the carnival a u16 or u17 comp? If it’s a combined carnival which it clearly is will the the 17yr olds be eligible for rep footy/Vic metro/country? If so there are a number of 17yr olds playing u19 NAB but didn’t participate in the u16/17 carnival as they would be too goode.g Caddy. Would Caddy be eligible to play in the u16/17 Vic metro team? All feels a bit weird to me..

Caddy is tearing it up for Northern Knights, he would be one of their best players, i dont think they want to overload him with games?

Will be mostly dedicated to 16s with maybe 2 max for 15 or 17 year olds. Some clubs may not have as many good 16s so want to show their 17s or they have strong 19s and want to showcase their 17s that won’t get a chance playing NAB League

Just using his name as an example. There are lots of other 17yr olds that have played the first 2 rounds because they are good enough for the u19 comp and would dominate the u16/17 carnival. Where is their opportunity for state rep footy? I assume no more than a handful will get invited to the u19 state trials.

thats a good question, im not sure, it seems they have reverted the competitions back to u16's and u18's with a couple of exemptions like they used to have, i think they only did the u17s and u19s last year because of the 2020 season being completely called off? i think you'll find a few in the u18's teams possibly?

Based on this, how do you see the 2003-04-05 split going down?

its hard when you dont have D.O.B.'s on most players atm, but usually most of the 30-35 or so players in the state/region squads are in their draft year, then you might have 1 or 2 19 year olds who clubs are interested in, especially the games before the MSD after that they probably wont feature as much, then you usually have the best 3-5 17 year olds from each state or region within the squads and maybe 1-2 of them playing regularly for the team, thats how it has gone in previous years when we had the u18's

That spread seems quite reasonable.

Watching on the weekend Power vs Stingrays. Bottom aged players who stood out

Duursma (fwd) - class, he must be 6'3 but works really well below his knees.
Reid (fwd) - outstanding in the air, very high on him
Hamilton (mid) - ball magnet, needs 4 quarter consistency but will be the one to watch
Amoroso (fwd) - fwd pressure outstanding, really strong body
