Same rule applies to this thread as other years, keep it on topic about the kids.
Don’t get bogged down on what other teams might do or where they will finish.

Trade speculation belongs here.

That's also where you can discuss your mock drafts or pick trades.

Any McCabe, Dear or Maginness talk belongs here.

I'll spell it out again as fully as possible. It isn't just between us, North & WC it also involves Geelong.
(we're assuming it's Geelong - it might be Dees or Dogs ... either way they're talking to one of them).

So the deal would be us giving North pick 4 & F1.
WC giving us pick 1.
North giving WC picks 2 & 15 & F2
WC giving Geelong (?) their F1 for pick 8.

North then has two early firsts next year (and this year - which is why they came up with this).
Geelong would have two early firsts next year.
I'd assume Geelong would like having two early firsts next year in a deep draft of good mids considering their 'old man' midfield now.
We'd have Reid & McCabe and then our F2 next year.
WC would have picks 2, 8 & 15 this year and picks 21 & 22 next year.

And if it came to all parties agreeing but AFL not allowing us to trade our F1 I'm sure WC, North and Cats would flip a F3 & F4 our way to get it done.

Like I said earlier, it depends on how WC see their rebuild.
North like it (they offered it), we like it. The stumbling block right now is WC and the 4th party.
I can definitely see why North would be suggesting it. Given where they would be hoping for us to finish.

Appreciate the info.

I’d imagine West Coast would just rather 4 and our F1. Especially if they can turn our F1 into the cats pick 8. Two top 10 picks makes more sense if they are wanting to trade pick 1.

My guess is that it’d have to be something more like this to appeal.

Hawks:
Out: 4, F1
In: Pick 1

West Coast:
Out: 1, F2
In: 2, 8, 18

North:
Out: 2, 15, 17, 18
In: 4, Hawks F1, Eagles F2

Geelong:
Out: 8
In: 15, 17
Does seem fair but couple issues with this.

If geelong are willing to swap 8 for norths 15,17 - there is a good chance north would just want to do that deal seperately.

If that is true, it is also true that according to this, north could just give that 2,8,18 to WCE for 1, F2 in return - which is really 2,15,17,18 for 1, F2 which sounds something a lot like the trade WCE have rejected from North this past week - and thats assuming that Geelong are indeed willing to swap 8 for 15,17 and then north are willing to give up 2 and 8 for 1 after that (which I dont think they would anyway). I'm sure North have already dangled 15 and 17 to Geelong and Geelong have said not happening.

On that basis, this trade doesn't really make sense imo.

Don’t forget the reason it doesn’t suit Weat Coast at all is because 8 likely becomes 12-ish and 15 becomes a pick in the 20s after matching bids.
It doesn't change the pool of players available to a club, just when they get picked.
It actually makes little difference.

İt may not be Geelong. A club with a higher hand may have to be swayed to get this otherwise quite even trade done. Eagles would want more than pick8/9. The sticking point could be that other club may not want to get in on the action.
Thanks KL, btw.

I would be extremely surprised if North trade for #1.
They will keep both 2&3 and also receive 8 off Geelong.
Contrary to KeeperLeaguer inside info that we are making a play for 1 will not happen.
Demons are also set on a player at #6.
I can’t see anyone trading within the first 6 to 7 picks.

North trading their F1 to Geelol?

North trading their F1 to Geelol?
No, the end of 1st picks. Geelol are after more picks.
Only a little piss talk that I’ve heard more than once.
Wiz will be a fantastic addition to our forward line

People should just mind their own business.

I enjoy reading your posts KeeperLeaguer, but I wouldn't put up with those petty comments either. So i understand if you CBF anymore.
Agree 100%. If you don't like KeeperLeaguer then just put them on ignore rather than having petty potshots. Let the rest of us enjoy the intel.

I don’t see the cats giving up 8 for 2 teens picks maybe 11/18 might tempt them in a broader trade. I think they need midfielders and would therefore be looking for a good future first given the composition of the 2024 draft. I figure they hold it for sanders or maybe caddy and if both are gone execute a planned trade. Their dream would be eagles or us if Curtin slides that far and if we took Watson and Curtin with McCabe that would be a pretty amazing draft. I get the feeling we may see a lot of live trading this draft given the top bracket and then the evenness of the rest and wildly different club draft boards.

What about 3?

Does anyone know if wingard has been placed on the LTI list and does that open up at spot to take to the draft?
It does not open a draft slot. He will be placed on the LTI and can’t play for a minimum of 6 weeks. A cat B rookie can be elevated to play in his place until he returns. To open up a spot for the SPP or mid season draft he has to ruled out for the season.

Thanks. So Assuming we don’t get another cat B like Tew or one of the Irish guys we trialled presume they do that to get a look at Bennetts?

I don't desire anything. I don't pretend to know anything.
All I'm doing is passing on any info that comes to me at the club. If it doesn't make sense to you blame the info not me.

I'm just as happy to STFU and leave you guys to it. I'm going to be busy from Wednesday till after the draft so the floor is your Hawks2011. Have fun chaps.

There’s so much noise on this board that I tend to skim through these threads.

Your posts, along with those from a very select few, are where I pause and take note.

Thank you for the insights and I hope you continue to share.

Interestingly, this isn't our deal I found out, it was originally North's after they saw they couldn't make a deal with WC for pick 1.
Let's be clear, North have all the ammunition they need to get pick 1 if they want it. 2&3 is more than enough.

Edit: Why would North give up pick 2 if they want McKercher? WC no guarantee to take Curtin with pick 2 any more than with pick 1. McKercher would be a dream pick up for them.
