Same rule applies to this thread as other years, keep it on topic about the kids.
Don’t get bogged down on what other teams might do or where they will finish.

Trade speculation belongs here.

That's also where you can discuss your mock drafts or pick trades.

Any McCabe, Dear or Maginness talk belongs here.

What he was doing in the champs for Vic Country I have not seen that level of dominance as an underager, he was a huge reason they beat SA by 2 points taking half a dozen intercept marks in the last 10 minutes and winning that game off his own influence on the game and then to absolutely smother Nick Watson before going forward taking a few hangers over guys 5 inches taller and out wrestling them in the goal square to nearly deliver VC the championship was unbelievable, also being a standout for Bendigo as well for a good chunk of the year, he is one of the best I've seen in years, up there with Sam Walsh, Nick Daicos who I thought should've been pick 1 and Will Ashcroft who I also thought was pick 1, but FS always go a touch later than predicted.

If he can get those big midfield numbers it will help his cause to go number 1, I know he can win a lot of it forward, he is great aerially, but his goal kicking was a bit inaccurate last year for Bendigo, he plays the Tom Stewart role in defence as an idea of how he plays in that position and has had some good spells in midfield, but it depends where he plays and what he is naturally best at that might determine where he goes in the draft, because if he lacks endurance or accumulation power then a KPP or true midfielder could pip him for pick 1, so we'll see how they go in their all important draft year.
Good perspective Davo. Thanks for that. This year will make or break it as always. Someone might come from the clouds ala cadman and stake a claim for pick 1.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him slip out of the top 10. Clubs seldom use top picks on small forwards and small defenders. Then there's the fact that he's so short which typically hurts a draftee's chances of going higher.

I'm not saying that he won't or shouldn't go top 10. Just pointing out that drafting trends indicate players of his size and position tend to slip. Will be a steal for any club who picks him up I'm sure.
100% agree. As a reference point. Cody Weightman went at 15 and I reckon Watson is better at the same age so theoretically he should go higher than 15 but this is a very strong draft. I got told he went well with the match sim at Hawthorn, didn't dominate or anything just did ok...nothing spectacular. I also heard Hawthorn would like him to play a match or 2 with Box Hill to see what he is really like against the bigger bodies...time will tell if this actually occurs.

Look Watson is a great talent and I see why so many get seduced by him (I love watching him as well because he's so unpredictable) and i regularly change my opinion and draft position of him. As it stands at the moment i think he's around the 15 mark, not just because he's very small, but because I think there are and will be better players/options than him come November.

Lastly, the Hawks drafted Bennetts and O'Sullivan so do they need another small fwd?

We go best talent available that high, if thats Watson at our pick so be it!

I feel we will get a top 5 selection in a draft that runs deep so thats exciting for sure.

An i feel McCabe will be a early second pick in a super draft.

Reid is obviously off the charts by all accounts but I wouldn't be shattered if we ended up with Caddy or Durssma as they are more of a position of need. Thrown in Moir as well who I rate only slightly behind. Any which way we'll get a gun at the end of the year no doubt. Exciting!

Moir reminds me a little of JUH at the same age

For any keen draft followers 2022 GF day under 16 game Team Houli V Team Murphy. You can watch young Will McCable for yourself.

Skimmed through this. Timestamps for McCabe disposals/involvements:

McCabe didn't see a whole lot of it playing full back in a relatively low scoring affair. Seems to be quite a laconic mover but a skilled player with the ball in hand. Didn't get to see him in full flight going for intercept marking however and would like to see his disposal a bit more.

Will Lorenz looks class. I have no doubt if he were the grandson of a Geelong or Sydney legend the AFL would introduce a grandfather/son rule.

Daniel Curtin won BOG and rightly so. At this very early stage he would be my second preference in this draft.

Some Mid Season draft potentials who may be worth watching over these first couple of months of the year to see if they jump up into calculations.

Felix Fogaty. Greater western Vic, 198cm key forward/ruckman.

Ziggy Toledo-Glassman. Stingrays/Casey VFL, 195cm key forward who has a lot of interest from AFL recruiters. Kicked 14.9 goals in 8 NAB games last year.

Clay Tucker, 204cm ruck from Eastern Ranges, also signed at Box Hill this year.

Joziah Nannup, Stingrays, Indigenous player with electric speed and a big leap.

Matthew Aldous, Eastern Ranges, 191cm forward.

Tom Stern. Gippsland Power, 191cm forward. Concentrated on school last year.

Brady Wright, Rebels/Geelong VFL, 190cm forward.

YOUNG GUN TO PLAY VFL

HAWTHORN will get a close look at exciting draft prospect Nick Watson this season, with the small forward expected to play games with Box Hill in the VFL.

Watson trained with the Hawks last pre-season and over summer as part of his program with the AFL Academy.

After a standout bottom-age season in which he kicked 18 goals for the Eastern Ranges and also performed well for Vic Metro at the under-18 championships, Watson enters his draft campaign with high hopes this season.

The electric small forward played in the Ranges' practice match last week and on Saturday will line up for them in their Coates Talent League season-opener against the Sandringham Dragons.

As part of his program this season, in between his commitments with Eastern and Caulfield Grammar, the high-flying and elusive goalkicker is likely to play a handful of games with Box Hill Hawks to further prepare him for the top level at the end of the season. – Callum Twomey

I have never seen him play but we ****ing need a Ziggy on our list.

I have never seen him play but we ******* need a Ziggy on our list.

Dandenong coach Nick Cox says Toledo-Glasman is currently the player most discussed on the phone with AFL recruiters.

There is an intrigue about him.

The developing key forward, who has grown to 195 centimetres this year, missed the first half of the season with an ankle injury. Click link for full storey

Jewish teenager Ziggy Toledo-Glasman – the son of former AJAX player Simon Glasman – will pull his boots on for Dandenong with confidence, having scored 14 goals for them in seven games.

The U18 boys’ Victoria Country squad member, who played his junior footy for Mt Eliza – and recently one match for their men’s team – is a gifted tall forward and a reliable goalscorer.

Toledo-Glasman is one of only 66 players invited to take part in the AFL State Draft Combine in Melbourne on October 9, and AFL clubs Carlton, Geelong and Essendon have expressed interest in him.

He and Sheezel were both finalists in the personal growth category at the 2022 NAB League Boys’ awards.

The Stingrays qualified for the grand final after winning a semi-

final cliffhanger by one point against Tasmania last Saturday, which Toledo-Glasman told The AJN was “definitely the most incredible game I’ve played in”.

An ankle injury had kept Toledo-Glasman out of action for the first six weeks of the season, but he quickly made up for lost time, with some big performances in key matches for Dandenong.

“I received tons of support from the club in getting me back onto the field after my injury, and I play with a very good group of boys, who play with a lot of energy and focus, which has helped me get good looks at goal.

“I’ve put in a lot of hard work at training, so that I can convert those scoring opportunities.

“It’s certainly an exciting time coming up, but I’m just trying to take it a week at a time, and put my best foot forward.”
